The history of Pizza Hut began in 1958, when what is now the world's largest pizza franchise was born. Pizza Hut is the world's largest pizza restaurant chain and is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., whose restaurants total approximately 37,000 restaurants.

The whole history of Pizza Hut has been achieved through innovation, it was founded in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney. Their friend suggested opening a pizza parlor they agreed with the idea that it could prove successful, so that they borrowed $600 form their mother to start a business. When making the sign for the restaurant they only had enough room for nine letters and because they made pizza's they wanted pizza in the name, that only left 3 letters and because the restaurant looked like a hut they named it Pizza Hut.

Today Pizza Hut has over 6000 restaurants in the United States, and employs over 200,000 people who are dedicated to maniacal customer service and ensuring that every serving of our signature pizzas, Tuscani Pastas and Wingstreet Wings are great!

Pizza Hut’s corporate headquarters, located just north of Dallas, in Plano, Texas provides a support system for all the managers and employees in our restaurants across the country. The campus, which opened in January 2011, was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 20-acre campus includes a café, coffee bar, dry cleaning, an on-site financial services center, Energy Zone (fitness center), a patio with lake view and basketball courts, walking/jogging trails, and on-site child care. The building also has state-of-the-art technology, a Pizza Hut Academy (mock up restaurant), a consumer insights lab, and research and development labs.

Our corporate headquarters is surrounded by the best that the Dallas-Fort Worth area has to offer. In our company-owned operations in the U.S. for example, about 35 percent of our associates are Caucasian and the remaining 65 percent are Hispanic, African American and/or Asian. In 2010, minorities and women made up 63 percent of our external management hires and 56 percent of internal management hires (promotions).

We are also increasing the representation of African Americans, Hispanics and women among our key talent/decision makers, and growing the pipeline of diversity in our mid-level manager ranks.

    I worked at Pizza Hut part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Really flexible job role, managed to develop my skills in a variety of areas such as phone manner, dealing with different customers or cashing up.

    Cons

    Stressful evenings on a friday or a saturday night where they do not have enough space to accommodate peaks in orders. Quiet during the week so very boring.

    I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Pizza Hut.

    Interview Details

    Initial communication was good, friendly HR, needed to chase them after that. Not enough information given at the face to face interview. I assumed I would be told about the company culture and opportunities to grow but was advised that the job was entry level and that was it. I asked for feedback after the interview but did not receive a reply. Didn't match my expectation of a global chain. I didn't feel that the interviewer was professional enough - nasty feeling that I would be worth very littleto the company in this role which is not a great feeling to get at the interview stage.
