I worked at Starcom USA full-time (more than an year)

Good clients, great team, lots of training opportunities. The away day is a great idea and really helps you meet new people year on year.

Long work hours for the digital team and resultingly much of the digital team has left. The staff turn over is very high. There is a boys club culture in more senior positions in the company. Pitches were often lost (except international and search which seems to be doing great!) which is dispiriting. Salaries were poor and often not up for discussion. Senior management will not take any criticism no matter how gentle and constructive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the grassroots and invest more in your people rather than restructures and paint jobs. Keep doing the away day and other initiatives though, as they allow people to meet a wider set of people and keeps people thinking fresh. Get more women progressing up the boys club - it is so men heavy which is dispiriting especially when there are such strong female characters in the agency.

Phone interview was fairly basic and essentially wanted to make sure you could do math and hadn't lied on your resume. This was followed by four back-to-back in person interviews. They were about 45 minutes each and while I think that they were meant to focus on a different area (team work, creative problem solving, etc.), many kind of ran together. After the interviews, you're taken out to lunch with an "ambassador" who is meant to be a non-partial person you can ask more frank questions about culture, compensation, etc.
