Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, IL (US)

I have been working at TransUnion full-time (more than an year)

People - for being such a large company I've been very impressed with the culture. There are very few people that you run across with a chip on their shoulder.
PTO - 1st year employee starts at 19 days pto... not bad!
Location - Across the street from Union Station, two blocks from Ogilvie, and 2 blocks from the blue line and 4 blocks from the brown line
New CEO - has a great vision for the future and is slowly loosening up a very stuffy company
Turnover - Accountability is on the rise. It seems like a lot of people who thought they could coast through a sleepy career doing little to no work are getting a rude awakening.

Technology - Due to incredibly strict security housing so much consumer data, technology lags in terms of both software and hardware
Processes - The amount of red-tape and lack of practical training on how to navigate the "system" is awe-inspiring. It's not uncommon to get bounced to 4 different departments over the course of weeks to figure out how to get a minor piece of software installed on your laptop

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Benefits: If you want to be a tech-forward company and ATTRACT THE TALENT that will help you succeed in that arena, check out what other companies are doing for their employees, and match or exceed that. PTO, paternity/maternity leave, flexible work schedule, etc.

Red-Tape: The red-tape and inefficient processes are the biggest hinderance to TU's efficiency. Find ways to reduce the internal red-tape... especially from a process, software and technology perspective. Let people work the way they work best. Let them use modern tools like Evernote and Wunderlist to manage their notes and To-Do's. Have a committee to seek out NEW and emerging technologies that people use personally to HELP the employees work more efficiently. I understand that security and liability are top-of-mind, but please figure out a way to silo and streamline the need for security and processes.

    Interview Details

I started as a CSR III and worked my way up to CSR I over a 10 year period. At that time it was nice to work for especially at the call center. It was easy to get hired as I had the typing skills for the position.
