I have been working at Wm Morrison Supermarkets part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and a half Sunday, friendly co-workers on the same level, reasonable holiday, reasonably flexible, staff discount

    Cons

Managers and workers higher up the chain just take you as another number, managers sometimes unfair and very critical although I understand they are under pressure, customers can be nuisance, managers don't follow company values or rules but the same can't apply to workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more fair and justified, don't just think of employees as another number, stick to rules or don't use them at all.

    Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Wm Morrison Supermarkets in September 2014.

    Interview Details

After completing the application and handing it in store I had a phone call the day after requesting an interview. It was 1:1 (I wasn't told any information) and I had to bring my passport, NI number, Birth Certificate and proof of where I live with copies. I had to fill in 3 forms, one being a declarative form to get a background check, the other checking where I can work and finally the IMPORTANT part, I had to tick what applies to me, e.g I am naturally positive, I enjoy helping people.

Afterwards the interviewer went through each one and I had to give an example and expand. which again I found difficult then I confirmed the hours I can work and now am waiting for a response.

Wm Morrison Supermarkets moved up the UK food chain with the acquisition of its larger rival Safeway plc. The UK's fourth-largest grocery chain, Morrison runs more than 440 stores throughout England and Scotland, up from just 125 when it beat out UK supermarket giants Tesco (the UK's #1 food retailer) and Wal-Mart-owned ASDA in a highly-contested takeover battle. Morrison's supermarkets offer a variety of food and nonfood items, most notably through its Market Street specialty departments. About 295 of the locations sell gas.
