Current Employee – been working at ADTRAN
Pros – ADTRAN has a nice campus and nice facilities
Cons – ADTRAN has changed for the worse over the last 5-7 years. Politics and finger pointing is becoming more rampant. Management has an extreme lack of focus. Moral is on the decline, with many long time employees exiting the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Bring back Mark Smith's management style and leadership.

Current Employee – been working at ADTRAN
Pros – The work environment at ADTRAN is quite welcoming to everyone here, and an engineering mindset is encouraged by management, which is an advantage.
Cons – While a software process can sometimes seem burdensome to engineers, sometimes it is nice to have more structured code management.
Advice to Senior Management – If you continue to be aggressive and target your focus to the untapped areas of the market then ADTRAN will continue to thrive.

Pros – Nice facilities. Everyone has an office with a view. Great benefits. Layed back atomosphere.
Cons – Hard to get promotions. Tend to hire from outside instead of promoting from within. Many people are blind to the overall goals of the company. Most of engineering has little involvment with the customers.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of people who continuously do not do their jobs effectively even after it being brought to their attention. Make sure that all employees are aware of where their products are going, details about the appliation, and who the customer is. This knowledge will help them make the best decisions possible when designing.

Former Employee – worked at ADTRAN
Pros – Most every employee gets offices, and the campus is very nice. Overall people treated each other very well. There is a wide variety of jobs to move to if you want to change.
Cons – In an interview I asked if a certain type of job was available to co-ops. They said it was. When I went down it was not a single had co-op had a job doing that skill.
Advice to Senior Management – My management was very nice and very courteous. I just wished the technologies used where more current. Overall it was good.

Current Employee – been working at ADTRAN
Pros – Atmosphere on the job is excellent. Overall, the employee base is friendly and helpful. Facilities are unmatched in Huntsville. The EN Division seems laid back. The company plays it conservative with most decisions, and in recent times, that has really helped Adtran. In a growth market, that does slow us down though. Adtran was named the best large company to work for in Huntsville.
Cons – Not any major ones. I believe the salaries probably average less than the contract defense jobs in the area. The main negative would be that we want to be a 1B dollar company, but try to operate like a small company in many regards. There is a reluctance to take any large steps forward.
Advice to Senior Management – Expect more.

Current Employee – been working at ADTRAN
Pros – Fantastic culture. Great work environment. ADTRAN knows how to continue to make money in the High Tech industry and has remained profitable through the past 25 years. Company's small size allows it to have a flat hierarchical structure. The company does not have an organization chart nor do employees have job descriptions. That forces new employees to really walk the halls and talk to peers as they get up to speed within the company. Managers don't micromanage
Cons – Slow to market new technologies. Salary is average to below average.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work.

Current Employee – been working at ADTRAN
Pros – Fantastic culture. ADTRAN knows how to continue to make money in the High Tech industry and has remained profitable through the past 25 years. ADTRAN is known for their quality and incredible technical support. They maintain engineering and support in house with badged employees based in the US. This is a huge positive in an industry littered with hardware vendors and high tech companies that outsource everything.
Cons – Slow to market on newer technologies. Limited resources.
Advice to Senior Management – Be willing to strategically take a chance on an acquisition to move ADTRAN forward in Enterprise networking.
