    Pros

Decent pay ($12-20/hr). Decent benefits, 90% insurance after deductible, 50% off AT&T services.

    Cons

Work/Life balance, no family life, only one Saturday off a month. Schedule is always changing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being a manager is about balance. Happy employees are productive employees. Documenting employee performance is a tool, not a weapon.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Rapidly changing, fast paced work environment, with the right amount of training to help you be successful at what you do.

    Cons

As the business constantly changes, your job can become quickly outdated. Because the company is so large, there really isn't a whole lot of bond between employees.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Union, good pay, great hours, benefits, easy work, exchange time.

    Cons

Constantly changing policies make it hard to meet goals. ACE score requirements are close to impossible to meet because you are judged on the customers perception of the company as a whole not you as a rep. Extremely strict attendance policy one absence or tardy in your first 90 days can result in termination, no sick days only holidays and vacation days you can take if you get sick or have an emergency. You only get 2 in the first 6 months after your 90 days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a day actually taking calls see if you can pass your own goals. Give us a way to dispute ACE scores that aren't directed towards us as reps but at the company policies. Stop making policies that hurt the reps ability to meet the required goals. Also take a good look at the goals If only 25% of your reps to can meet them then they are set too high.

    Pros

The company provides a wonderful work-life balance and required flexibility. Compensation is pretty good compared to market average.

    Cons

Not enough opportunities to grow within company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Can get more work to India that could use the employee skills.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Paid, medical. The pay for outside techs is very very fair

    Cons

Major micromanaging. Upper management can be ruthless to its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop giving techs time off for stupid things. Let the local management actually manage their techs. Hire local management from within so the know what they are talking about and not what you ( think ) they should know.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

    Great pay and great benefits.

    Cons

Schedules are based on seniority, so unless you are high up, you will get a crap schedule. The point system stinks, and per the union contract I have 10 paid sick days a year, but get a point if I use them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your sick time policy and you might not have so many on FMLA

Former Employee - Retail Store Manager in Bethpage, NY (US)

I worked at AT&T (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Culture is very professional and has a very customer oriented approach to selling. The company from bottom to top focuses on flexibility when adhering to customers' needs and expectations. This makes it easier to become dedicated to working with one of the most recognizable mobility brands in the world. They offer generous commission as well.

    Cons

When working from the retail side of wireless, it is generally difficult to accept and convey to customers the additional charges which are only really explained in the fine print. The company's ideal sometimes mimics that of Goliath proportions since they are 90 million customers strong, behaving in an aggressive, no nonsense way with employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are many dangerous ways to be under fire when trying to achieve goals. I've seen many instances of creative ways to make certain metrics that are being drilled into you on a daily basis. This pressure unfortunately will bleed into the way you have to push your own team.
