I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Relatively good salary. Generous vacations after having a number of years of service. Many opportunities if willing to relocate to Dallas, TX.

    Cons

A very process driven and fragmented organization making it difficult to provide the flexibility customers expect. Hard to provide good customer service. Employees are treated more like a statistic than a valuable resource. Employees don't feel like they are part of a team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the employee more than the next quarter's results. Recognize the importance of a motivated employee for long term growth.

    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

Pay, benefits, unionized, great co workers

    Cons

Fluctuating attendance policy guidelines, especially when downsizing and reducing the number of employees as the economy slows, standards are unreachable, demanding managers who criticize more than support the growth of skills necessary to meet the demands required to be successful.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive wages above that of local cable provider, raise every 6 months regardless of performance

    Cons

Managers constantly on your butt about efficiency and constant tracking of your gps

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go easy on the techs, were more inclined to pick up the last few jobs in the pool if we're treated with respect.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Working as a universal agent- it's a pretty easy job for $15/hr, plus you get 1.5x pay on holidays. At my center you could request the hours you wanted, and as long as you got 20 hours a week you were good. Coworkers are pretty cool, all college students.

    Cons

Management is a little strict- corporate policies make it hard to get days off, take breaks, etc.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Company provides mass opportunities to learn and work in environment with the latest and greatest technology. Very good team environment, Fair pay and excellent benefits, pay employee bonuses every year based on performance.

    Cons

Very difficult to advance and move especially for strong performers become locked into positions for long periods based on large corporate structure. Many rules, processes and procedures making it difficult getting things done in a timely fashion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create positive team and working environments, rewarding your employees especially performers with salary increases and annual bonuses when the company is profiting. Make sure to have interest in employees career path, assist and provide employees vehicle to learn whatever is necessary to satisfy short and long term career path goals objectives so the employee don't feel like they just have a job but a career. Employee will feel like they truly contribute to company growth and not just work for the company but they are a part of the company, an asset to the company. Remember its based on performance which they have earned every bit of it. Now you have a complete hard working contributing employee not just with a job working for your company. You have a happy, performing employee working as a team player, pursuing a career , part of the company earning their worth, everyone wins !

Current Employee - AT&T Mobility RSC in Lansing, MI (US)

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

pay is good, your commission as a sales rep is uncapped and all non-management is union. 401k with company match, medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage plus they offer a pension which is becoming a rarity among companies these days.

    Cons

They are constantly changing focuses along with adding new services to their portfolio which makes it a challenge to keep up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have too many irons in the fire! You want RSCs to discuss adding new voice lines, adding a tablet, getting Uverse, getting digital life, getting the my AT&T app, all while taking care of whatever the customer came in for in the first place with every customer - every time! That is a little ridiculous! Not everyone wants to sign their entire paycheck over to AT&T
