I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    great starting pay
    awesome benefits
    retirement plans
    401k

    Cons

    hard to advance
older techs get new trucks and materials
Techs will tear each other down for no reason

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs better training to accommodate most job situations. Better train managers to help techs succeed instead of micro managing so much. Listen to Techs who actually have great numbers instead of the favorites

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great exposure to latest technology and how society will change because of it. Learn alot about business and why certain decisions are made for future growth. The company has been around for over 100 years. They developed the telephone and the wireless tower technology. Its all about communication within society. Its right in the thick of it. Its a huge company with people that have worked here for a while. Lots of experience to be attained here. Plus they are in the top fortune 15 companies. :)

    Cons

The company has been around for over 100 years. They developed the telephone and the wireless tower technology. Its a huge company with people that have worked here for a while. This has it pluses but the people that have been around longer typically are road blocks when you want to advance in your career. The company is trying to change it by educating their ten year managers to adapt to the new age. Most have improved but you still run into one now and then. Frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adapt your management style with the employees of the new age. This will help in your own advancement and improve the trust within your team which will be recognized in various fashions.

    Pros

Progressive company - innovative, profitable and one of the biggest brands in the world

    Cons

Departments are very siloed. Culture is slow to evolve. There needs to be fewer layers to stay nible and competitive in the long term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower teams and individuals to innovate and make decisions. Discourage micromanagement on the top levels of the leadership team

    Pros

Management is level headed and stays off your back if you are able to produce good sales metrics.

    Cons

A rotating door of pay structures. You never really are sure exactly how you get paid because an overly complicated pay structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lower level management isnt typically an issue at att. I could imagine the HR dept and people that negotiate with CWA is a mess. Good luck

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I had the benefit of working with a lot of great people for a long time. My crew was loyal to a fault and still are. I haven't been there in a few years and we all still talk! It was a great family environment.

    Cons

Every month there was a different fire to put out management wise, there was some change being made as a knee jerk reaction to something someone said or did instead of staying the tried and true course.
