    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

The people in the department were very nice and the timelines for projects were realistic. There was a good opportunity to learn new software skills.

    Cons

The department had a limited budget and therefore could not hire the required number of people nor buy licenses for certain development software.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should evaluate the basis of their budget versus the costs of having inadequate resources and underfunded projects.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Received several promotions, and flexibility to work from home. Upper management is really taking strides to keep all levels of management in touch with initiatives and goals of top executive decision makers.

    Cons

Diversity in Level 3 and 4 levels of executive management. Massive forced reduction among all departments within organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

All of the people are smart, educated and great people to work with. The bureaucracy can be burdensome some times, but that is true with every large company , and most others.

    Cons

Finance guys are winning the day by outsourcing most IT jobs. Not sure they are creating a better product though. Just a lot of finger-pointing and washing of hands when things go wrong with the contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

force your managers to cut costs, by running leaner teams to do the same work, rather than sending jobs out of the country.
