    Pros

World-class training, a company that values the employees- and the customers, plenty of room for growth, amazing benefits

    Cons

Requires some years experience within the company to receive the best schedules, hard to get out of retail if inexperienced

I have been working at AT&T as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Hands on experience, great benefits.

    Cons

Sometimes there's a lot of pressure because of the work load.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to engage more of the smaller office outside of the bigger cities (Dallas, Atlanta).

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

The training is good. If you are a techy person and like to learn new products this is a good job. Good training and fair commission structure.

    Cons

Management could be more professional. Takes a while to get promotion.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to work but expect to move and be a single career household. Innovation and lots of great people who are passionate about the company.

    Cons

Reorganizations are constant, expect to have to move to HQ eventually. Hard place to have a duel career household. Senior leadership just seems to shuffle along and not move along. limited opportunities to make director and above because of this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

we understand reorganizations happen but every year it just wears on you. It is counter productive to tell 300 people we are reducing headcount and then find out 2 people are losing their jobs 2 months later. The senior managers worked hard everyday for the cause. Now we have to move to Dallas or lose our jobs. I get it but not sure it is in the best interest investors.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company offers stable employment. The health care and employee pension fund are a plus. The company is great about supplying on-line training modules. The work force is diverse.

    Cons

Promotions are not merit based, they follow a military "grade" structure. Additionally, there are so many bureaucratic practices that it is difficult to stay ahead in this fluid marketplace.

Former Employee - Retail Store Manager in Bethpage, NY (US)

I worked at AT&T (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Culture is very professional and has a very customer oriented approach to selling. The company from bottom to top focuses on flexibility when adhering to customers' needs and expectations. This makes it easier to become dedicated to working with one of the most recognizable mobility brands in the world. They offer generous commission as well.

    Cons

When working from the retail side of wireless, it is generally difficult to accept and convey to customers the additional charges which are only really explained in the fine print. The company's ideal sometimes mimics that of Goliath proportions since they are 90 million customers strong, behaving in an aggressive, no nonsense way with employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are many dangerous ways to be under fire when trying to achieve goals. I've seen many instances of creative ways to make certain metrics that are being drilled into you on a daily basis. This pressure unfortunately will bleed into the way you have to push your own team.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

As a consultant I was treated well and in some cases better than a full time employee. In my experience AT&T let me work my own schedule and even remotely when ever I wanted.

    Cons

End of 4th quarter AT&T might send you home for the last 2 weeks. As a consultant that means no billable hours.
