    Pros

    1. Amazingly challenging projects
    2. Very high level of autonomy
    3. Extremely smart and driven colleagues
    4. Everyone always expects the best,l which drives everyone to work at the maximum level
    5. Great compensation and attractive benefits
    6. The Perks. Meals, events, bonuses, conferences. AlixPartners treats their employees well
    7. Work hard, play hard.

    Cons

    1. Lack of direction. You are in charge of your own career. If you do not make an conscious, constant effort to self-promote and network, you will be lost in the shadows. Sometimes it can be impossible to know where you're headed.

    2. Lots of plans and lots of talk however until whatever you've been promised actually happens, don't believe it for a second. This applies to promotions, staffing , length of time on an engagement, etc.

    3. Unbelievably high expectations and relentless working hours

    4. Often feels like a bunch of small specialised teams rather than a cohesive company. A bit decentralized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus more on career development. Keep the culture the same while growing the firm.

    Pros

Entrepreneurial for a consulting company, many degrees of freedom to operate, does actually seek to implement and get the results. Focused on results not slides.

    Cons

Lacks the systems and support structure (including analysts and associates) of a typical consultancy so some projects get stretched on workload and senior people needing to work at all levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to move to more of a partnership mentality and ownership structure. Even with PE partners can increase ownership of professionals in the business.

    Pros

    Well known in the industry.
    Exposure to high profile clients.
    High level of client interaction.
Receive ownership for work and control work stream.

    Cons

Poor compensation and benefits compared to competitors.
Many legacy senior staff that provide little to no value and do everything to protect their positions, including not accepting responsibility for any shortcomings.
Top level heavy, which creates limited advancement opportunities.
    No formal training.
Performance evaluations tend to be based on favoritism, not actual work related performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow upward feedback of senior staff and replace underperformers.
Increase compensation and benefits to be competitive with the market.

    Pros

Great smart people, quick fast paced environment, client interaction from the first day for all levels of staff. Low base but compensates for it with overtime.

    Cons

No formal learning. No handholding. Some of the folks are micromanagers which is why it is important to pick the directors who you will be working for. No choice in the case that you want to work for. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage younger folks to take on a bigger role, give opportunities, have a formal training learning, mentoring program to help develop people.
