I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Employee friendly environment, free snacks and beverages, good in analytics domain, arrange different events and offer bonus to their full time employees.

    Cons

Finance department sometimes mess up with the salaries (delayed), there is a little bit of space issue for interns (which will resolve soon)

I worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Decent salary + bonus for starting-level salary
    - Young and intelligent team mates
    - The company's rapid growth rate gives opportunity for advancement if you stick long enough (most don't)
    - Opportunity for moving to better jobs after a year or two
    - H1B sponsorship for foreign workers (even for entry-level positions)

    Cons

    - Very long hours depending on the team which you're in
    - The salary rise is pathetic. The company grows by 20-30%, but your salary goes up only 2-4% after working 50-60 hour weeks on average.
    - The bonus is pretty nice, but after tax deductions you're not left with much.
    - Unrealistic deadlines for most of the projects.
    - Office politics, and blame-games are a very popular pass-time at Argus.
    - Management's quality varies alot
    - Most of the work at Argus is repetitive SQL querying. If you're able to stay focused and calm for 10-12 hours a day querying and checking metrics, then this is the job for you.
    - The technology used is pretty much outdated... hence ALOT of manual work and room for human error.

Basically, the company employes mostly foreign workers, because they know how hard it is for the poor guys to move to other places. Most of the American ones stick for short periods of time, unless their persuaded to stay longer for higher salaries. It is a decent starting job, however there is better out there, and many at Argus have moved on to greener pastures after a year or two.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None... By now Argus has developed a company culture, which I doubt that management is either willing or able to change.

I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    -Massive amounts of data
-Fast growing, plenty of opportunities for those willing to step up to challenges
-Company is performing well, so bonuses have been generous lately

    Cons

    -Really outdated technology
-Culture does not encourage knowledge sharing. There are a few rock stars who have done great things, but Argus tends to lean too heavily on them instead of developing company-wide knowledge to improve overall performance.
-Lots of finger-pointing, both inter-departmental and from management downwards, when things don't go perfectly
-Poor risk and workflow management - lots of fire drills and last minute requests impact quality of established deliverables

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Technology must improve if you want to continue to draw elite talent and compete with the world-class big data analytics shops.

I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fast growth and decent pay, but that is also dependent on who you report to

    Cons

Few top level ppl run the company, they make the decisions and everyone is expected to follow. Unfortunately Argus is the only company most of these ppl have worked in so they don't have a lot of industry exposure leading to a huge gap in management style...something like a 'frog in the well'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the company can't run on a few top ppl, not at least in the long term. So please plan your moves carefully

I worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Work for experience in the credit industry, hugely important in the financial world.

Get to work with some really brilliant people in the tech part - people you always wondered about finally getting to see.

Has some cool company events and overall the HR/quality of life is fair (this isn't a sweatshop exactly). The office is neat and modern generally speaking.

Get paid and compensated as an intern, but far below anything acceptable for society. But it's money right?

Learn a lot about data, where it's from and how it's abstracted and then advised for clients.

Heard the pay is average to good for full time staff. Bonuses are supposedly good (again it's money right?).

I felt my bosses cared mostly, and could relate to them.

Overall personality of the company is professional, ambitious, a little nerdy but generally a "normal" job for what you'd expect to get out of college.

I hadn't heard of major accounting issues or any crazy firings or layoffs while there, knock on keyboard.

Seems moderately to very supportive of technical updates.

Wide degree of freedom as far as when to work. Mandatory legal training a give you some insight on the regulations in data - and the projects for them.

Bagels and casual days on Friday.

Directors and Execs show their faces.

    More pros than cons.

    Cons

Fantastic people but as someone else said "one or two bad apples"...

Analysts are a little slow communicating changes. Not really bad but slow enough to be a little confusing.

Nobody ever seems to know who will stay or go - hirings and leavings seem to be done in a conclave. People take their bonuses and run (hint good time to apply).

Promotion looks slow for people there for a while. But I think they get raises...

Managers are fun, a little quirky being IT, not annoying per we but not really there when there's an issue.

Work is done in response to regulations a lot. Kind of annoying but laws...

Like some IT places, you'll feel like you're in India. Not sure if that's a pro or a con for you the reader, but this is the English language. Little bit of a culture clash you didn't have to buy a ticket for.

White plains is not the MOST accessible place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advise your advisors when a new adviser will be advising the advisors.

Be aware of health issues: some light training maybe.

Offer interns notice for openings months before they graduate.

I worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good analyst camaraderie since all are disgusted by the work and environment

    Cons

Pay - at or below market. I'm surprised that some reviews mention that salary is competitive - look around and almost all credit card companies pay similar salaries or better.
Work - the job is re-running some SQL code to pull data. Managers dont have a clue of what the clients really want. So, as an analyst the learning is limited to a handful of SQL commands and hitting the green button to execute the code.
Hours - absolutely crazy (11-12 hours all through). Analysts are treated like slaves.
Management - most of the managers are utterly incompetent. They've just worked at Argus and dont know how things actually work in the real world. Neither do they really have any understanding of credit cards.
Analysts are hired hoping they quit in 11-12 months so bonuses dont need to be paid out.
Avoid this firm like plague...it is better to just stay at home for a few months and find something better than work at a place like this and lose sanity.
If for some reason you're working here, just start looking right now - you'll find something.

Dont believe the good reviews...they're just being written by the HR department.

I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good exposure to credit card industry. Good Bonus. Too many projects are coming in, company is expanding but then there are negatives as well.

    Cons

Company is very laid back. Attrition rate is so high and the management still doesn't care. Employees are paid less than the average market rate and are treated like slaves. Work! Work! Work! Long hours, no perks, no community activities, basically the company doesn't care about the employees. Whether they are satisfied with work or not. Very difficult to move across the teams. No diversity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

it high time that you care about the employees.
    Technologies are so outdated.
Managers, VP are inexperienced. They cannot handle pressure from clients and keep seeking for Principal to help.
Very difficult to collaborate between the teams. Too much of politics. I literally had to beg to get a work laptop.

I worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Good work location and Finance Data Exposure

    Cons

Unless you are a Fresher out of college, do not work here. Even if you are a fresher out of college do not still work here unless you were rejected elsewhere. There is no recognition for your long hours and much of the management group is institutionalized and useless without real management/IT/Leadership skills. This is not Real IT consulting work nor should you work here if you wish to remain Competent/Confident and Sane. Most of the work is around data validation and Straight data Loading which is very repetitive and boring. None of implementation requirements are intuitive or even remotely complex.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that people have a life/commitments outside work too. IT tools and processes outside have evolved a lot more than what you/your institutionalized resources know. Try to invest on better tools/technologies and work on retaining talented hires and cross training within. Gain some Leadership/Project Management skills through trainings atleast. Working at Argus alone for a few years does not automatically make you a good Manager. Focus on Optimizing existing processes and leveraging existing Knowledge base rather than on Politics and Gossip.
