    filled with nice people
good benefits including good health program, unlimited refreshments...etc

    Cons

most of the staff members are really mediocre, especially some in management position
management picking favourites based on how well they joke but not how serious do they take work
lots of data issues that are covered up
    bureaucratic support departments e.g. hr

    Advice to Management

pay better to attract top class graduates not just anyone who randomly applied and said yes.
promote those who are actually worthy to be promoted.

    Pros

I cannot find any to be honest. I would say it is the best option if you do not have any other option.
Bonus: 20-35 percent but IMO it's not worth your free time that you would have got if you will not be working for this company. You will anyway be frustrated and will not be able to enjoy your life

    Cons

Compensation: Looks average on the onset but when you calculate the amount of time that you spend working you realize you earn less than the folks working on a construction site on an hourly basis
Work life balance: It is a joke. When the upper management says that you will not have a work life balance and that is how we operate then there is something wrong in the way they manage their projects. Neither this is a start up or working on ground breaking technology and wasting your time and career here would be a big mistake.
Office Culture: Let me start with analysts; they are fun to work as they are in the same situation. So, people are good till you reach the associate managers position. Moving on to the managers, oh my the less I express the better it is. Most of them moved up internally and don't know how a project should be handled. I have not seen any manager doing any kind of planning everything is up in the air and they themselves don't know how to manage the project. If you suggest something that is right, that will mostly fall to deaf ears. Work is fast paced but it is all rework due to the mistakes made by the management on not asking for ample of time or proper planning for developing the product. Average amount of time that an analyst stays here is about a year and work hours are ridiculous. What shocked me while development is that if you call yourself as a data warehouse company and do not involve the DBA in any planning then what kind of planning do you do. DBA's are TBH non-existent. No proper data modelers, test plans or development resources. They fall short on all aspects. If you work here and then move on to a different company you will realize how much you are lagging in all aspects.
Personal growth: You don't have time for yourself, forget about taking extra classes or working on a side project.
Other aspects: Technology, one of the worst databases i.e. MS SQL Server. It is mostly an operational shop and no analytics done by the company. They think running min, max and average on historical data is analytics which is a joke. If you have an expectation that you will be writing optimization algorithms and some machine learning codes to run on a distributed servers then you are at the wrong place. Please don't go by the description provided on glassdoor by the company

    Advice to Management

This is not a startup anymore and there is no substantial growth in the past 15 or so years. No startup like work or technology, everyone are working on 90's technology. Treat your analysts like humans and retain the best of them as they are the future. Bring managers from other companies who have been there and done that as the mangers who have only worked for argus are not good enough in planning/analytics or man management.
Do your homework before taking on any projects, just bringing in random employess will not make the project a success

Opportunity to work on the most relevant issues facing the banking industry. Argus does care about retaining top talent - and is doing everything they can to make the job sustainable while continuing to deliver the highest quality for its clients. Personal development opportunities are big, but only for the better performers.

Travel can become the norm. First few years are tough as one needs to prove themselves. No easy passage based on reputation. Experience can vary significantly across teams and projects.

    Advice to Management

    Training, perks and work-life balance.

Great people. The camaraderie was like no other company I have worked for. Made a lot of friends.

    Cons

Same as most jobs: Tight deadlines, shortage of resources, and some work-life balance issues. All of which makes you a better person for having gone through it.

    Pros

Argus has many nice people who work very hard. Many are really smart and working like crazy.

    Cons

Poor leadership and getting worse. Anyone who had a real vision of how to build a business has left. The current CEO (Banerjee) is really weak and plays favorites. He is only in it for himself and is in way over his head. Long hours, little if any training, and highly political. New owners (Verisk) under-invests and is milking the place; couple this with a new CEO who is second rate and punitive and you have a terrible place to work. Compensation and career path is at risk.

    Advice to Management

Focus on leadership and taking care of your people. Get back in touch with how to drive value to clients and provide an attractive place to work.

    Pros

    - Decent salary + bonus for starting-level salary
    - Young and intelligent team mates
    - The company's rapid growth rate gives opportunity for advancement if you stick long enough (most don't)
    - Opportunity for moving to better jobs after a year or two
    - H1B sponsorship for foreign workers (even for entry-level positions)

    Cons

    - Very long hours depending on the team which you're in
    - The salary rise is pathetic. The company grows by 20-30%, but your salary goes up only 2-4% after working 50-60 hour weeks on average.
    - The bonus is pretty nice, but after tax deductions you're not left with much.
    - Unrealistic deadlines for most of the projects.
    - Office politics, and blame-games are a very popular pass-time at Argus.
    - Management's quality varies alot
    - Most of the work at Argus is repetitive SQL querying. If you're able to stay focused and calm for 10-12 hours a day querying and checking metrics, then this is the job for you.
    - The technology used is pretty much outdated... hence ALOT of manual work and room for human error.

Basically, the company employes mostly foreign workers, because they know how hard it is for the poor guys to move to other places. Most of the American ones stick for short periods of time, unless their persuaded to stay longer for higher salaries. It is a decent starting job, however there is better out there, and many at Argus have moved on to greener pastures after a year or two.

    Advice to Management

None... By now Argus has developed a company culture, which I doubt that management is either willing or able to change.
