Former Employee - Quality Engineer in Tremonton, UT (US)

I worked at Autoliv full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Lot's of training opportunity - even if not directly related to your position, generous compensation for new engineers, opportunity to move around in the company to find a position you enjoy. Autoliv does not cut corners when it comes to the quality of their product, which helps morale.

    Cons

Automotive industry can be demanding at inconvenient times. Sometimes you have to wait your turn to get financial resources to improve equipment. This leads some employees to feel burnt out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to invest time in your new employees. I had a very positive experience because my managers were genuinely interested in whether I felt happy and capable in my role.

I have been working at Autoliv full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The culture of the company, and the vast majority of people you work with are encouraging and helpful. Also, saving lives for a living isn't bad either!

    Cons

Some might not like the small family owned feel (even though it's a global/international company), also the salaries/benefits aren't as competitive as some other options on the market

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engineering management is great! Though it seems like sometimes people leave for higher pay elsewhere, which may be normal for any company

I have been working at Autoliv full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful work experience in a lean manufacturing environment with cutting edge automation technology.

    Cons

Industry is very fickle. Slightest economic downturn, and you could be looking for work. Industry extremely quality-focused, which can make work very stressful. Typically, don't pay very well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With a desire to attract and retain top talent, it is imperative to be above average in compensation. This has historically not been the case.

    Pros

    * Salary is more than average salary of Bangalore based Automotive embedded companies
    * Not much pressure
    * Small teams and hence get to work on multiple modules

    Cons

    * Good for Testing - as most of the projects handled in Bangalore are for V&V. Get to work on great tools
    * Experienced Software developer will find it saturated soon.
    * Infrastructure could have been better considering this is a MNC, No proper canteen facilities

I have been working at Autoliv full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have good benefits and the holiday shut down is nice when you get almost two weeks off during Christmas.

    Cons

No corporate structure (atleast where I was). Managment starts to panic easily. The other engineers and managment were condescending and critical at times when it was unnecessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a deep breath and take some management 101 classes.

Current Intern - Engineer Intern in Ogden, UT (US)

I have been working at Autoliv as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I love the work environment at Autoliv. The group of guys I work with are very helpful and very driven to do a good job. I also love the work we do. Where else can you blow stuff up, film it with a high speed camera, and watch the results so you can do it again. Super fun stuff.

    Cons

The only downside for me is the location. I am used to living in a small town and Autoliv is located in a big city.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing because it seems to be working great. Lots of happy employees.
