    Pros

The people are all very nice and helpful. Loved my job here but had to move to another state.

    Cons

Wouldn't let me come back to work for them when I quit to move even though my supervisor knew I was planning on moving away and said they didn't.( J.C is a jerk)

    Advice to Management

Really wished I could've had a second chance here . I was a good worker and that's all that should have mattered.

    Pros

Strong functional teams...the people make Avery Dennison a great place to work and are considered by many a key differentiator in the industry.

    Cons

Challenging metrics and hard to prioritize work based on quarter focus vs strategy.

    Advice to Management

Simplify and prioritize what will help deliver the AOP.

    Pros

There is plenty of room for upward movement at Avery. The pay is as good or better than comparable employers.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics that go into who moves up, and how quickly. As with most large companies, it takes forever to get any sort of change implemented. There is a lot of talk about the culture, but it is all really written just to sound good and not really what they strive for.

    Pros

Some of my co-workers were very competent high-functioning and intelligent professionals.

    Cons

The only focus was on the bottom line but oddly and even insanely, management had zero interest in supporting the manufacturing with staff, funds, HR advisement and support or in any other way that would have been productive. Worst job of my career.

    Advice to Management

Management at the corporate level probably does not even know what is going on at this location. Those responsible for the plant level (regional traveling management that makes the decisions for this location) knows what to do-they are just too concerned with focusing on their own careers to make any honest negative communications to their managers that might provoke positive change.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, with a very formal annual review. You know where you stand.

    Cons

Way too many reorganizations, and way too many Harvard MBAs that know everything, but end up being like a tornado...leaving a trail of destruction behind before they disappear.

    Advice to Management

Quit making personnel decisions based on Quarterly financial results.

    Pros

    Cons

Sometimes decision making can be slow

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen and support a high performance environment

    Pros

Had plenty of opportunity to advance and grow through the organization if willing to put in the effort.
Pay scale was fair comparative to other businesses in the area.

    Cons

At times company would be very high on specific training activities but frequently cut short on programs to switch to a new industry hot topic. Recently it seems that there was a push to have people transition to different roles for "personal growth" reasons even if that was not a desire of the individual.

    Advice to Management

For the most part you have hired bright / talented individuals that make positive contributions to the company. Consider not trying to force individuals to make career changes under the guise of personal development.
