Current Employee – been working at Avis Budget for more than 10 years

Pros – The fleet of cars are nice. When they do have cars in the building it is good to search for other alternatives in your class or if your willing to upgrade.

Cons – Management have become way to cut throat. All they want are results and nothing more. The great environment we had before at work is gone. The commission rates have been changed so many times and have been reduced so much that at this point all that's left for them is for you to sell and not get the proper commission rate back from your hard work. It was fun, exciting atmosphere when I arrived but then when management changed it began going downhill from there.

Pros – The benefit of a car is the only pro but when you are short cars which is good number of times youre out of luck

Cons – Your scheduled 10 hours but you work 12-13 hours with no extra compensation, bonuses are dismal, and you work your pants off. If you're short staffed you will be doing the work of that employee whether its cleaning cars, driving them or renting them. The customers who have had long delayed flights are always a joy to deal with. Mid and upper management are constantly on you over hitting all sorts of metrics that are truly just hit or miss. Employee moral is typically low since most make minimum wage.

Advice to Senior Management – Pay your ops manager and rental staff more it will make a huge difference in turnover and quality

Pros – Company car + FREE GAS is great. It's additional under the table tax-free income if you think about it

Cons – LONG HOURS. Depending on your location, you either end up doing all the work, or you can hide away in the shadows and go unrecognized.

Cons – Sometimes ad-hoc problem solving, deadlines are sometimes too close

Pros – Great team of experienced personnel. Half-decent pay, and the car benefits were very handy when fuel costs start to skyrocket. Lots of fun and useful vehicles to drive.

Cons – Lack of support for growth or maintenance of market share. Unrealistic goals and inconsistent accountability. Myopic focus on counter sales at the expense of almost everything else, including operations.

Advice to Senior Management – This business has low profit margins and most customers (and employees) are unhappy. Try harder to make the employees happy, and they will make the customers happy aka Southwest Airlines

Pros – pay in NYC is about 9.75 hr plus commission which can range from 300-2000 per mth if youre really, really good at selling.

Cons – higher management, not the location managers, can be shockingly unprofessional
I was once told by an agent that in this company, if a co-worker complains to upper management about you even if the accusation or complaint is unfair or untrue, they will tell you nothing about it and then fire you one fine day out of the blue with no explanation as to why. Wow!

Advice to Senior Management – Learn some HR skills. You really need them. You are not better than the rental agents. Listen to employee concerns and dont take sides. Be neutral and fair.

Cons – the company does not value their employees
little to no recognition for hard work (or poor work)

located in airports usually, probably home to the grouchiest people in the universe

Pros – Sound family oriented company. Outstanding employees with diverse backgrounds. Great benefits. Majority of senior leaders are strong with good character.

Cons – No accountability back to employees. Goals (tied to bonuses) delivered consistently 4-6 months late. Perception far more important to senior manager of local market than reality. Totally self absorbed narcissus skilled at creating master illusion. Beautiful paint on the shell but egg is rotten.

Advice to Senior Management – Rolling pride spending huge $$$$$$ while money to develop customers and pay bonuses are stripped. Las Vegas penthouse suites and Hawaii....really? Accountability and respect is just as important back to the employee.
