I have been working at Bank of America as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Environment in S&T division is somewhat collegial, I guess there is more to worry about than internal competition
    - Great learning opportunity
    - Very professional support professionals (back office, HR, IT)
    - AMAZING office location & construction

    Cons

    - Transparency is not great, especially in sales-oriented teams
    - Volatile headcount decisions
    - Top notch teams coexist with so-so teams on the floor
    - Organization was a bit top-heavy, and certain teams were understaffed at the analyst+associate level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Redesign information flows and reporting structure so that organization is less siloed.

    Staff are down to earth.

    Cons

Outdated systems - Senior Mgmt do not want to spend money on automation. Change is not embraced.
Salary not that great in contest to other banks.

I have been working at Bank of America

    Pros

Colleagues. Facilities and some good perks for staff.

    Cons

Overly bureaucratic. Technical underinvestment has been going on for years. Cost cutting culture the priority. Slow to promote.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to their staff more. Actually be seen to change things as opposed to giving lip service. Promote key staff faster and loosen up on the criteria for promotion. Not everything can be quantified in terms of black and white.

    Cons

Quite a lot of staff turnover, good compensation and benefits. Bad work life balance, talk of limiting hours and days worked but little tangible moves to do this.

Professional but not too cut-throat. Flexibility and opportunity to excel and add value quite quickly. Focus on CSR and Diversity and Inclusion. Not too much micro-management.

    Cons

Lack of communication/transparency and synergies across teams due to size and different business models.
    Political at senior management level.
Brand in Europe is not very strong.
