Current Employee – been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time for more than a year
Pros – Hours worked, cutomer focus, willing to listen to any ideas
Cons – Managers are hands on with all projects, this is not a con. Most people don't expect this when starting.

Former Employee – worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time for less than a year
Pros – I was offered $10 an hour because I asked for it with no work experience whatsoever. People are all really nice and you get a lot of experience in retail from working here because they are big on customer service at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Cons – Long hours, rude customers, and not very thorough training made starting there become a huge difficulty for me but once you get used to it, it's not so bad.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more employees especially cashiers.

Former Employee – worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time
Pros – Fun co-workers, fast paced, never a dull moment. Flexible scheduling helps out alot if you're in college. Learn a lot of useful info.
Cons – The managers that are hired can be pretty questionable; some don't deserve to be handed power over more competent floor people, but that's indicative of how things are run for the company. Also, the customer base depends largely on the demographics so be aware of the neighborhood you're in before you choose to work there.
Advice to Senior Management – Train and treat your managers well so they won't keep leaving for other companies!

Current Employee – been working at Bed Bath & Beyond
Pros – Great incentives and a great discount
Cons – All of my cons are specific to my store....
Advice to Senior Management – Stop hiring inappropriate people. You make the work environment gross.

Former Employee – worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time for more than a year
Pros – You get a 20% discount... which is the same discount that everyone gets if they have a coupon. Impressing the ladies with your knowledge of housewares.
Cons – No career opportunities. No full-time positions available the entire 2 years I worked there. Barely above minimum wage.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time for more than a year
Pros – Very decent pay, especially for part-time.
Some days you can work very little. Just chatting with customers selling product!
They make a very honest attempt to train you on product knowledge (it's hard they sell a lot of stuff),
Co-Workers are generally really cool, even some/most managers (there's always that one though :)
LOTS of incentives!!! Random items each month sold to employees for COST!! That's like 75% off.
Employee Appreciation nights, each employee walks with anywhere from $300-$1000 in free stuff that is donated by the companies/stores. Mostly products you sell but you can get a $400 blender, a $100 trash can, basically anything they sell. .
Cons – Terrible yearly raises, if any.
Management moves around a lot so it's hard to establish yourself and move up.
Having to stay until 12:30 when your scheduled off at 10:15 because there is a "corporate visit" the next day. And given NO extra break or meal.
Minimal Hours (20 or less) (newer rules). They would rather have 10 employees working 10 hours knowing nothing about the products than 5 employees working 20 hours knowing everything!!!
You have 10-15 managers at any one time, if only ONE doesn't like you they can and will make your life hell.
Not loyal at all to people who have been there a while. If anything they take advantage of your knowledge and skills and make you pick up the slack for others (without extra recognition).
VERY INCONSISTENT SCHEDULING...HARD TO MANAGE YOUR DAYS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TWO JOBS
Advice to Senior Management – RECOGNIZE YOUR EMPLOYEES WHO ACTUALLY HAVE PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE. Show that recognition. AND actually enforce that "promoting from within" rule or your turnover rate will go sky high as anyone who's been there for more than 6 months will quit!
