    Pros

the accommodations are probably the best part of working at best buy since you get additional discounts on top of your employee discount

    Cons

The place is nice and fun to work at so i have nothing wrong with working there so far plus I've worked there for less than a month so I haven't gotten a great lot of time to have any cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Fun because you are around people of all types.
    Grow some great friendships.
    Pay is above average.
Excellent way to learn about technology and customer selling skills.
    Benefits were okay.
    Tuition Reimbursement.

    Cons

Leadership may not be practical at times.
    Favoritism is inevitable.
Commission based environment, without the appropriate pay.
Geek Squad Protection/Accessory Attachment is a must (Must strive at up selling) or you will either lose hours or be fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is more to the numbers than just the Manager of that area. I am a Sales Lead that practically does everything for the Department Manager and I am consistently ignored for the work I do in the department. All praise goes to the Manager who takes vacations and takes time off every other week.

    Pros

Good managers, good coworkers, employee discount, supposedly good 401k, great deals for employees like private auctions

    Cons

Wont always work with school schedule, only want to sell protection plans, lots of e-learnings when you start, coworkers slack off sometimes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure that your managers know what they're doing. Hire people that WANT to work at the store, coming from someone with a passion for electronics. And fire people when they spend all day on their phones ignoring customers instead of letting it slide.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The discount and work experience, good base pay, and I'm not sure about other stores, but at my individual store, great leadership team.

    Cons

Insane levels of tedium, favoritism, low odds of getting raises, no work-based incentives so there was no competition in the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a better work environment by creating some kind of incentive for hardworking and good selling people so that they have reason to work hard, otherwise people will just slack off and create a toxic environment for people to shop in.

    Pros

great discount, training, and great environment

    Cons

    retail... need I say more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We do not keep the right talent and we reward the wrong talent... We should be paying people what they are worth and not allowing talent to walk.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I actually had a lot of fun working here. Everybody was really nice and for the most part very professional. If you want to see and hear about the newest technology that's available then this is the place for you.

    Cons

Working late at night until 11 PM isn't always the greatest thing, but it will be like that in any retail environment. Also, you can bet that you will probably be working the major holidays as well. They have really dumb computer trainings that everyone is required to take. They are sticklers for corporate policy, and if you miss your break or do something accidental with your schedule then they frown on that pretty badly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would tell management to do away with all of the required computer trainings. Offer incentives to employees that want to gain more knowledge about products. And train employees in group settings as opposed to using stupid computer animated applications.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very flexible, able to work around my schooling, great opportunity to move around and up if you stick with the company. Usually very friendly work environment.

    Cons

Very young average age at store level, I was 26 and was older than most of the managers at my store, alot of micro-managing I assume because they are used to working with 17-18 year old kids. Pay is low, as expected, alot of sales training but no commission.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Advancement opportunities, the work environment is fun and having relationships with the customers can be very rewarding. They can work around your hours.

    Cons

Low pay for the amount of work required. I went through 2 General managers in the year I worked there. High turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage more with the employees so the work can be done faster and more efficiently.
