Pros – Very good product pipeline with good vision of where the company is headed. Benefits are excellent. Company does a good job of soliciting and acting on employee feed back.

Cons – Strategy for augmenting pipeline seems to be moving in the direction of acquisition and collaboration instead of internally developed. Not a bad strategy but keeps employees in the dark about future pipeline and what role current employees will play in the development cycle

Pros – Core sciences (immunology, protein biochemistry) were, at one time, world class. The Neuro group, while weak in Discovery research, can execute on clinical development like no one else in the MS field. Company has had more positive impact on MS patients lives than all others combined.

Cons – Vicious, relentless political infighting. Every department, every level, every day, played out against a vapid and hypocritical message of transparency and openness. Just vile.

Advice to Senior Management – Focus on neurology, dump immunology (its hopeless), remove middle management across the company, fire 2/3rds of the VPs, and read your own vision and core values statements

Pros – Great Benefits, on site parking, core of people that have been with the company for a long time, lot of knowledge, great leadership in senior management, lots of focus on employee development, internal candidates are always considered for postions first, different sites work together on things

Cons – Not really a lot to say here, general office poitics, wasn't crazy about the system used for mid-year and year end reviews

Advice to Senior Management – Do 360 reviews on people before they are promoted. Try to retain good people better. Jobs are hard to come by and it says something when people frequently quit a high-paying job.

Cons – Employee loyalty is not weighed as much as it should.

Pros – Biogen Idec is currently on the rise with product development, so the work is ample and exciting. Good products also bring a positive atmosphere to the company and the workers there. You also have a sense at the company that the executives care not only about the profit but also the employees and the well-being of the employees and their families.

Cons – None that I can think of.

Cons – I agree with the cronyism-it needs to stop. As does the cesspool of cronyism and bullying in Quality and Manufacturing. You can royally screw up but as long as you booze with the right people it gets swept under the rug.

Pros – Some outstanding people there positioned the company where it is today. Current earnings and drugs coming to market were the result of great foresight from those individuals.

Cons – Current management is taking credit for their predecessors but underperforming now. Mismanagement and a reversion to failed practices from the past don't bode well for the long run. They speak a good game but practice taking the money and I bet they will run before the floor drops.

Advice to Senior Management – Reverse course now. Stop your cronyism and keep good people that put Biogen where it is today
