Current Employee – been working at Blinkx
Pros – You get to own projects
Your work goes to make a real difference to the company (unlike other places i've worked - where it gets lost in the system)
Pay and benefits are pretty good
Good locations
Interesting tech
Generally a good bunch of people to work with
Cons – Hard work and long hours
Lack of communication from management
Recent high turn around of staff
Some good projects turn into dead ends
Advice to Senior Management – Dont let good people go
More (any) advance warning of projects
Work with the tech team instead of driving them

Former Employee – worked at Blinkx
Pros – A great team of hardworking, personable and social people.
Hot industry, cool technology
Management allow autonomy and control to those who show to be committed, capable and trustworthy
A fantastic product set, which attracts new customers easily, which brings with it job satisfaction, and handsome financial rewards which are easily achieved by those prepared to put the work in.
Management are (despite so many neg reviews) very supportive and open to ideas, and open change, especially to those who have proved capable, consistent, clear, concise and hardworking.
Backed with finance and expertise from some of the most successful people in the FTSE100 software markets.
Cons – Small, cramped office space
Lacking in time and resource, 100% of the team work long hours, are all tired, worn out, and need more people to help them do their jobs effectively without complete burnout.
blinkx will not appeal to those looking for a 'comfy corporate'
A pretty grim place for developers looking to get into the zone.
Hot tempered management.
Advice to Senior Management – Improve internal communications regards commercial strategies as they happen
Avoid shouting at employees in front of entire teams. A public outburst completely shatters what it likely to be a highly valuable employee which you cannot afford to loose. Those who witness it will question the strength/skills of management and jump on it to create negatives messages throughout the company. If you really feel the need to shout at someone, just do it in a private office, you will be respected for it.
Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing - it's all good

Current Employee – been working at Blinkx
Pros – There was a flexible schedule and independence. Vacation wasn't too bad either and you do learn a lot.
Cons – Not great people to work with, not very professional and the staff is very green and junior. Many have bad attitude and there's a lot of racial discrimination. Not a good environment to work in.
Advice to Senior Management – Look into your Montreal office...Lot of shady business dealings there.

Current Employee – been working at Blinkx full-time for less than a year
Pros – Small office with a blend of start-up and tech corporate culture emerging. Think flexible with sustainable resources. Plenty of opportunity to have a career and have some fun. Lots of career oriented people at the Company.
Cons – There have been growing pains of acquisitions and also growing so quickly over the last two years. Those seem to be behind us and we are recruiting and retaining lots of talented people with ideas and the skill sets to grow blinkx to $1.0 B of revenue annually.
Advice to Senior Management – Set up a one on one mentoring program. Hire more recent college graduates. Start an internship program.

Former Employee – worked at Blinkx part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Flexible schedule as I was part time on the weekends and I was able to learn quite a bit about data entry. Was able to work from home or wherever place so long as I had a computer to hook up to to work.
Cons – Training, I feel, should have been more than a day. It'd also have been great if terms were shuffled out in a more timely manner when it's found that there has not been content for quite some time.
Advice to Senior Management – It was great working with you all.

Current Employee – been working at Blinkx full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pretty good benefits, compensation is good (if you're a manager or higher or have been there a while), kitchen is always full of food, so it's like free breakfast and lunch, beer days, morale events here are fun and engaging, free parking, co-workers are cool, they really do promote from within, and lots of flexibility and autonomy.
Cons – -Some upper management are better than others (some don't listen or ignore your suggestions altogether, but there are some that are open to new ideas), not proactive with increased compensation, there was a reorg recently that have embittered some people, no 401(k) matching, and while some people can telecommute, it's largely discouraged.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate with your employees more. Based on the opinions of the employees and myself, we feel that the company is not transparent enough and everything is always so secretive. Also, listen to your employees; they're the backbone of the company and have good intentions for the company.

Current Employee – been working at Blinkx full-time for more than a year
Pros – Very welcoming, friendly group. Company is expanding quickly so every day is very exciting. TONS of perks - kitchen snacks, random bagel deliveries, organic fruit every week, catered Thursday lunches, Giants games & happy hours. Adjacent to Embarcadero Bart/Muni station & close to lots of great restaurants & shopping. Great health benefits - this company cares about your health!
Cons – Since the company is expanding and changing so quickly, information sometimes does not make it around to all the appropriate people, so that creates room for employee speculation & confusion.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more transparent. I know upper management is busy but try to make sure your employees understand what is changing. I don't know if monthly company meetings satisfy this need as not all branches are included in all information exchanges.

Current Employee – been working at Blinkx full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – -blinkx is growing
-Supportive upper management
-Competitive Salary
-Thursday lunches, lots of snacks/beverages for free
Cons – -Growing pains comes with some confusion for employees on their roles. Makes sense though based on recent acquires (burst, etc)
-Not flexible on work schedules (typical m-f, 8:30 - 5:30 type job). Should allow to work from home or summer fridays like many other companies with similar environment
Advice to Senior Management – Continue with Monthly meetings regarding company updates (we just started this, but hoping it does not go away). Bring back happy hour Fridays (let us drink in the office!). Be more flexible about working from home.

Pros – Blinkx is a company that is both fiscally stable and maintains a roster of the smartest people in the industry. It's the type of company where you are rewarded for your production/input. The pay, benefits, and company culture is amazing, and is almost too fun at times.
You have the potential to earn more than any other company I've seen, and those efforts are noticed...Brian knows my name personally and what I've contributed. He seems to go out of his way to make sure personally knows everyone possible open door policy at all times. If you come in with the right attitude, you'll be compensated far beyond what I've seen any other ad network or entertainment company
Also, NBA Jam Tournament Edition is an excellent thing to have in any office
Cons – Like any company that leaves your experience and compensation entirely in your hands, you have a mix of attitudes - war heroes, gossip/social butterfly types, disgruntled about expected earnings, sharks, "class clowns," etc (typical 8 types of employee mindsets).
If you're the type of person who isn't self-motivated and willing to make your position your personal business...it might not be the place for you. My role is one that basically makes me a business within a business, and I couldn't be happier about
A lot of the posts that are negative seem to be from people who came in expecting to get the A treatment regardless of their work, or felt micromanaged during their tenure.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the company culture as is, and continue down the path we're on.
