Property Manager

Property Manager (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsGood company, good training and the people are all very nice. The staff was rather small so I had to do a lot myself which I did not mind.

ConsThird party Management, so if the owners decide to sell the building or switch management then you are out of a job. But that is the way it is with third party management.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

They are too fractured from a leadership standpoint. Managers living over 1,000 miles from their employees.

Property Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsI found no pros working for CBRE. Leadership was poor.

ConsToo much routine work not related to the property manager's skill and education.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave regional managers work closer to the properties they manager to be more familiar with who works for them.

A-type Personalities thrive here

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsThey have pretty good benefits & try to be as green a company as possible. Great place to start as a college graduate; rotation program in place. They have a way to report wrongdoings (whistleblowing) without any repercussions.

ConsCasual Friday means no jeans; you're allowed to wear jeans maybe 2-3 times a year. Image, image, image; very image conscious. Very male-dominated culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot enough minorities/women in top management positions. Leaders need to be subject to the same rules as those that are lower on the totem pole.

Boring but the pay is decent

Real Estate Services Administrator (Current Employee)

I have been working at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsExperiences varies by location but there's lots of downtime, not much to do, small office and pretty laid back atmosphere. Pay is decent but not the best for the "largest real estate management firm in the world."

ConsOther than wearing a suit and tie every single day, there's really not much to do. You sit and stare at your monitor all day and answer phone calls. This may be their dream job to some but this is just so uneventful and stagnant, especially for a young 20-something since most of the staff are 30+ years of age. I'm currently looking for a more demanding job as this is not challenging enough and I feel as if I'm not learning anything.

Advice to Senior ManagementLoosen up a little. I understand you want to convey a sense of professionalism but times are changing. Also, a lot of the jobs are redundant.

Pros- Decent pay

- Company is all about money and not about employees

Advice to Senior ManagementThe "little" people helped this company. Show some appreciation and be more transparent.
