Best in the business with great resources

Large corporate firm that can be a bit too big at times

I worked at CBRE full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good job, people, location, pay, benefits. It used to be a fantastic place to work, until a systems change imposed by the US

    Cons

Peoplesoft - imposed by CBRE USA on the rest of the world. An extremely hard to use system. The previous system was miles better! All done in the name of "globalisation" - absolute rubbish! Also, have certain accounts and IT functions spread across 3 countries is ridiculous!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For CBRE USA - If it aint broke don't try to fix it. Let each country handle is own finance and IT functions. For CBRE UK - carry on as you are. Maybe introduce flexitime?

    I worked at CBRE

    Pros

Great place to work, friendly and professional staff with the best people from the industry, lots of great projects

    Cons

salary is average and lower than IB and Financial Services, taking into consideration that staff here is very prepared and with great backgrounds

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep on doing what you do, the team work in the company is great, very nice place to work, but try to get higher fees and higher compensations

    Pros

Good place to gain experience in order to move on.

    Cons

Compensation very poor, below market average. Middle management poorly trained displaying flagrant lack of people management skills and often display favoritism. Bonuses never delivered upon even if you display consistently high performance.

    Pros

    Close to good lunch spots.

    Cons

Bullying, harrassment and favouritism are rife. Great place to work if you are aggressive and political. Avoid it like the plague if you are in an administrative role.

I worked at CBRE full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

friendly enough environment, hours are reasonable, good name on your CV, good working hours, probably good opportunities to get somewhere if you stay long enough

    Cons

very little opportunity to stand out, micromanaged, quite uninspiring, repetitive work, busy over christmas period (year end for invoicing), pay was average at best

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

try to make it a bit more interesting, and try to notice people with potential a bit better

Former Employee - Help Desk Analyst in London, England

I worked at CBRE full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

since leaving, management have changed, so i hear they are doing better. IT was originally outsourced, then the company bought up our contracts, so people cheered up.

    Cons

    30-50ish calls a day
high volume of calls due to outages
stationary at your desk/all remote support across EMEA
supported around 600 or 6000 employees amongst several people ( i hear they have more IT staff now though)
felt very much like working in a call centre
a lot of politics, and unhappy staff
no real pay rises at the time..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

speak to your employees and get everyones views, people have a lot on their chests there, and incentive to train and better themselves,,,no body wants to answer calls all day, and then when offered other work to do, have to do this on top of calls.. thats too much..
otherwise, just keep up the good work and keep improving the place like you are.
