    well paid, global (option for travel) great CEO

    Cons

    poor low-level management, gossip/backstabbing culture, one rule for you another for us. My time at CSG was punctuated with odd, conflicting & downright confusing instructions based on things with zero effect on how I performed. Furthermore, I strongly advise bending a knee to the office queen(s) or your life will be made difficult. my first 6 months at CSG was spent trying to figure out how appease the cats & work effectively at the same time. strangest office environment I have ever worked in and I have worked in a few, in different areas / continents as well. do not be fooled by the money, arbitrary popularity rules this place. left 4+ months ago now happily settled in to competitor :-)

    Pros

    CSG has a casual culture; you can work from home occasionally, and there is not really a dress code. It is easy to talk to whoever you need to get something done.

    Cons

    The casual culture means people that have been here forever are stubborn and stuck in their ways. There are bad eggs, just like at every company. Luckily, working around them isn't hard.

    Pros

    Decent salaries, good potential in its business, theoretically good employee processes in place (10% of which is actually followed?).

    Cons

    Very large pool of disengaged managers, with little to no connection to the actual product development taking place. This very much contributes to a stalemate feeling, and the sense of no creativity, going nowhere. There is a very large discrepancy between the base US business and the acquired companies - with no end in sight. Impossible as an employee to integrate into the main business, or to get any respect/attention. Certain products are totally in free fall, with no visible strategy for years.

    Poor job stability, with frequent and large layoffs.

    There has been a very big change in work culture into the negative after being acquired by CSG - from creative and hip to nobody cares and bloated. Really sad story.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Seriously reduce waste from all the administrative overhead. Engage in what employees do daily instead - analysts, developers, testers, etc. There are so many resources plowed into activities that result in nothing markedly beneficial to the company. Stop building an insecure environment where nobody cares in the end.

    Pros

    Relaxed environment, client base is respectful. Products are robust.

    Cons

    Management is poor. Products are over-priced for prospects in Tier 2 - 3 levels. Client relations are very lacking. Company cares only for numbers and not for customer base. When economy is slow, company lays off hard workers other than those responsible for failure. CSG lacks ability to enter new market segments and maintain relationships with partners and clients.

    Pros

    Internal communication and marketing is great, and there is a real sense of empowerment to own your role. There is a real mix of cultures due to the acquisitions by CSG, so you can always gravitate towards areas of interest. Genuinely very customer-oriented vendor, so practical experience is highly valued. Very easy going environment, but looks to reward those that go above and beyond. The Benefits are a great package, and compensation is very competitive.

    Cons

    Company has a great focus on anything that impacts the key accounts that provide a very high percentage of their revenue. If you are outside of that workstream, it can get frustrating to get company focus and support. Their is a real clash of cultures within the organization between the original company and the acquisitions, which is still be played out, plus their is a real intent to somewhat maintain the status quo in the original company, which makes entering it very difficult, and even harder to be promoted within it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The only advice I would give is that a more long-term strategy to move the company forward needs to be developed as there are too many knee jerk reactions to predictable events. With no assessments of available resources, there is no knowledge of skillsets to drive a global strategy, and consequently, there are going to be continual rounds of cost cutting.
