I have been working at Cerner full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Flexibility
    * Convenience of gym, pharmacy, clinic, work from home
    * Network with other similar associates
    * For the most part you are appreciated and recognized

    Cons

There is a lot of work to do, but not a lot of resources to do it. This often leaves people feeling over worked, stressed, and easily burnt out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have had a decent experience with management. I think they feel our pain when we are overworked. They do the best they can by recognizing us, but there is only so much we can do.

I worked at Cerner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My co-workers were awesome here. The associate stock purchase plan is good, and the benefit premiums never increased. They engage you and you learn a lot on the job. I recommend them!

    Cons

The hours are longer than 40 a week sometimes. The starting salary was nice, but the salary increases after a yearly review were not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the employees based on performance to add incentive.

It has been a learning process here, everyone here is laid back and easy to work with. I couldn't be happier with this company.

I don't see any cons with this company thus far.

I have been working at Cerner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Lot of chances to learn.
    Growing company, many opportunities.
    Many young talents here.
Nice place to start your career.
We just bought Siemens health care department by cash!
Overall, I am proud of this company and what we are doing here.

    Cons

Salary is far lower than the national average. Bay area usually pays $120,000 as entry level software engineer salary. Cerner only pays about half of that as entry level salary. Even Cerner's major competitor , Epic, which is also in middle west, pays about $110,000 as entry level engineer salary. Cerner's interview may be easier than those companies, but we are doing same job, if not greater, as Epic's engineer. Why we are paid lower?
This is probably the only thing that I am not happy with in this company. Other than that, I love this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are doing great. But how about raise a good engineer's salary higher. As least to match your competitor company.

    Pros

strong culture, variety of work, fantastic coworkers who believe in the mission

    Cons

As of 1/1/15, will be part of Xerox Services; change is constant and the communication process is painfully flawed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

improve communication as Xerox Company to retain quality employees

I have been working at Cerner

    Pros

Great place to develop skills and learn. If you are on a good team, you will love it and have a career for life.

    Cons

If you end up on a bad team, it will be rough and you will hate your life! You end up having to work extremely hard because of the ecosystem of the company and naturally will be over worked if you want to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to engage with employees and be more involved with their career development. Need to gauge employee workload better to prevent workers from getting burnt out.
