I worked at Cigna full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly loyal colleagues who do their best in trying circumstances

    Cons

An acceptance of bullying amongst middle management leading to a high turnover of staff. Very little career development or training. Poor compensation and little chance of meaningful review. Shockingly overcrowded and noisy work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rip out and redesign entire middle management structure in IT. Move to new premises. Build a genuine meritocracy and end the nepotism.

I have been working at Cigna full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Constant interaction with other countries (US, Belgium, China). Global projects.

    Cons

There is no career at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest some money in the technologies that your teams need to work.

Employees should be able to anonymously review their managers. This allows managers to get useful feedback and the result of these reviews should be taken into account for the annual review of these managers (e.g.: a manager with bad reviews from his employees should not get a good salary rise).

Company policies and benefit package are quite disappointing.

I have been working at Cigna full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to move around to different roles within the company every few years, which keeps work interesting. Competitive compensation.

    Cons

As I've seen with many large companies - need to deal with 'corporate politics' & can be lots of red tape when trying to deliver your project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company needs to change its processes / approach to work so it can be more nimble & enable it's employees to deliver quicker.

I have been working at Cigna full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I was compensated well and had flexibility to work from home

    Cons

I got blindsided with a job elimination with no severance after fifteen years of severance. Too many layoffs and the review process is too rigid. They have to select people who are under performing even if there aren't any.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This organization spends too much time in the vertical world. There is very little room for input from mid level and front line employees. Very much a top down organization. Lots of time wasted trying to control approvals

I worked at Cigna as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Working Culture here is good as people treat you like a family. Senior management team is willing to teach you and give advice to your career path

    Cons

Work is kinda easy as an intern's perspectives. Team leader can give out more work and autonomy to the interns for them to be responsible for a particular projects

Former Employee - Applications Developer in Windsor, CT (US)

I worked at Cigna as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

There was definitely a good work-life balance when I worked there. Granted, I was just an intern, but I never felt like those around me were too stressed out with working very much off normal hours.

    Cons

A ton of bureaucracy as is expected of an organization of this size. Most people that I know had to wait 3 weeks before getting developer rights to do any actual developer work on their machines.
