Working at Citizens Bank as a retail banker has been a true roller coaster ride, many ups and many downs.

I have been working at Citizens Financial Group full-time

    Pros

The best reasons to work at Citizens at the branch level are the colleagues, the customers, and the benefits. Most colleagues contribute to the team at the branch level. Most customers are pleasant and appreciate good service. The company has an excellent benefit plan including healthcare, matching 401K, shopping/entertainment discounts. Extensive training for new hires, and monthly training modules.

    Cons

Challenges include the inconsistencies in how each branch is managed in terms of adherence to bank operational policies, communications between managers and bankers/tellers, and managerial styles. Compensation is inconsistent across similar/same job titles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Branch managers and assistant managers NEED management training, especially communications and interpersonal relationship skills.

I have been working at Citizens Financial Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

okay starting salary for personal bankers (pays more then TD or Wells Fargo) , paid mileage and parking for training travel or if "floating" is a part of your position, room for advancement if you can stay the course (its a rocky one), Paid Bank Holidays!!!! there are a lot (take that TD), 401k opportunity.....

    Cons

Depending on when you get hired it can take up to 6-8 weeks before you get your health benefits, call nights 2 a month if you have people in your branch who don't want to go, in house lead sale phone calls, pressured to sell sell sell, mirco- managed.... everything you do has to be accounted for, health benefits options are getting worse

    Pros

Management is moving, slowly, in the right direction. Great people to work with. There are opportunities but need to know someone.

    Cons

The PTO has been decreased for 2015. Still feel it's more than adequate. 401k is offered.

I have been working at Citizens Financial Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people; engaged immediate managers, clear objectives, becoming a stand-alone public company (has been a sub of Royal Bank of Scotland), balance of work/personal life is valued and supported,

    Cons

Bank has been cutting back on benefits and working to cut costs in ways that means more work is expected for less total compensation; reorganizations seem to occur annually if not more frequently; too many managers and not enough people doing the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

See to it that all employees benefit from the upcoming stock offering - not just senior management: it takes an entire team to make the bank successful, not just good senior management so give everyone a significant stake in its success.

I have been working at Citizens Financial Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits package. Colleagues are very informative, good people.

    Cons

Terrible regional management. Terribly high turnover rate because regionals will fire someone who hasn't met their unrealistic sales goals, regardless of how many years they've been with the bank.

I worked at Citizens Financial Group

    Pros

Great benefits, time off, etc. Flexible options. Nice people overall.

    Cons

The bank is going through cost-cutting across the board and has been for a year trying to look as good as possible for the upcoming IPO. Many people are bailing or thinking about it as a result. Not an engaging place to be right now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When IPO is done, think about streamlining processes as some are way out of date.

I have been working at Citizens Financial Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people I work with day to day are great. Everyone helps each other and try to make it fun. There are plenty of different career options to work towards.

    Cons

There aren't enough people to get the work done so many work long hours and teams are overloaded. The pace of change is exhausting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to people and hear their concerns about staffing. Set realistic expectations and reward those that get the work done.
