I worked at Clear Channel as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Fun work atmosphere and lots of autonomy right from the beginning of the internship. Made some great friends and connections. The job itself was awesome besides the lack of pay, I got to voice commercials that played all throughout Philly.

    Cons

The whole conglomerate can end up being segregated by station. It felt more like separate radio stations than one unified group.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The Los Angeles cluster of Clear Channel Radio stations -- despite the company's reputation -- was a fantastic place to work. I was surrounded by brilliant, creative individuals who were always quick on their feet, embracing new ideas working to make their organization the best possible.

    Cons

Being very large and having been acquired by an investment firm caused some rough changes. Some positions were cut. But this is what happens when a company works to become more agile and competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the positive attitude and the keen eye for talent.

    Pros

I worked at Clear Channel part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The perks of radio are always there. Concert tickets, free stuff, food, etc (when you can get them and if you're friends with promotions)

    Cons

We all know the pay is crap and the risk of unemployment is always looming. Plus its corporate radio so you have limited control over what goes over the air.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people what they're worth. If you keep piling on work, compensate your employees for it and don't assume the fringe benefits will keep them happy.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Radio life is a fast paced, exciting environment. Endless opportunities to develop new business relationships and generate a healthy income.

    Cons

Focus on best interest for the station(s) rather than best interest for the clients (advertisers). Micro management was a common practice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Challenge upper management to create a vision focusing on clients success. Their success with campaigns will breed future success rather then continuous attempt to replace lost business partners.

    Pros

friendliness, cooperation, respectful, enjoyed working for company and had fun.

    Cons

I worked at Clear Channel as an intern

    Pros

Great company culture, nice people, fun events, "family" environment, feel valued by co-workers, solid internship experience

    Cons

No upward mobility, company isn't doing too great overall

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember WHY people listen to radio in the first place - the personalities. Stop making all CC stations the same nationwide or you'll lose your audience entirely to satellite radio, Pandora or Spotify
