I have been working at DFC Global

    Pros

Expansions bring with it good opportunities for personal development and also travel internationally.
There is minimal management interference in your day-to-day work load and you just left to 'get on with it'. While this may not suit most people it is a refreshing change for me.

    Cons

Legislative changes may kerb the current business model and things cold change overnight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Less meetings....more doings.....

    Pros

    Nice people in mid-lower management

    Cons

Too many huge egos, too little financial services experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The constant power battles at the top need to stop.

  3.

Made to work in ways that were not customer, but profit centric

Former Employee - Department Head in Nottingham, England

    I worked at DFC Global

    Pros

It's easy to shine or keep up as many of the staff lack basic business skills - right up the ladder

    Cons

Profit is the only focus and the profit gets paid to a small number of people. In a year when record profits arrived, staff got a 2% pay rise, but the UK MDis reputed to have earned $1m according to reports on the net...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you plan and actually have, and share a 5 year plan, customers might feature as being important and so prop depuis be proud of best they do

I have been working at DFC Global full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great support from managers, allow to make mistakes and hold accountable for success. Distance work, sometimes from home is appreciated.

    Cons

For some manager the salary does not matches the level of responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thanks for the great support and opportunities for developing professional skills. Think that in the long run you get what you pay for, and it wold make sense to develop compensation schemes that will retain valuable employees. If you look around you will see that "the good ones" leave after some time.

I have been working at DFC Global full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Open-mind culture, room for active participation, innovation is rewarded and welcome

    Cons

Time schedules can be tiring due to differences in timezones if you work in a managerial position

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus a bit (currently inexistent) on perks and bonus as means to motivate profesional engagement and improve results. You will see what motivated people can do. Average reward cultivates average performers.

I worked at DFC Global as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Liked the work, location and nature of technical involvement.
Kept me busy and was close to my home.

    Cons

Horrible business model, payday lending is very predatory

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't treat IT staff like used toilet paper, people actually liked working there
and did a great job. They threw IT staff to the street in the blink of an eye to
    save a quarter.

I worked at DFC Global full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work with great part-time people who are just trying to get by. They did pay the MSP for only working 20 hours, this was okay.

    Cons

Some leaders I found to be very good and others were simply horrible. It all starts at the top and rolls down. It also sucks having to take money from those on CPP....like they are already not broke enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask for more frontline opinions and trust they know your customers better than you think they do.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at DFC Global full-time

    Pros

Good IT management team, a lot of collective experience

    Cons

Losing people at a steady clip, and a lot of these people are 'the good people' not the dead wood

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's no longer 1995 (or even 2005), your approach to things like 'work from home' is outdated. Your approach is creating (or created?) a culture of clock watchers.
