    I worked at DIRECTV full-time

    Pros

    - Great company and benefits
    - Leader in their media space. The best in the business.
    - Awesome parties. (Though with budget cuts are less frequent and/or opulent.)
    - Promotes your passion and interests
    - Is open to ideas and/or communication cross-functionally
    - A lot of truly talented and genuine people that make going to work worth everyday, regardless of others bs.
    - Some managers that are true leaders and care about you and your well being.
    - Friendly environment overall with a lot of perks.

    Cons

    - Your passion gets exploited and results in overwork.
    - Not enough headcount to cover all needed work, and not always willing to increase budget to assist in help in all roles.
    - Assistants are not treated like others and are low on the totem pole in visibility, advancement, pay, and bonuses.
    - Personal feelings and politics can trump actual hardwork and knowledge.
    - People that pay political games and/or brown nose are advanced quicker and higher than those with actual ability and produce much of the work.
    - Management had little knowledge of what their teams ACTUALLY do and are blinded by the brown nosers and their own agendas and reputations.
    - Work life balance is a HUGE negative factor overall.
    - No matter how well you may do your job, you may never advance or get more than a standard raise if any, no matter how long you have been there.
    - Pay is among the mid to lowest in the industry. A lot of people leave due to a better increase, responsibility, and title in other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Treat ALL your employees like they are valuable.
    - Many hourly or lower valued employees work as hard or harder than salaried employees that just sit around and take credit for others work.
    - Give better bonuses and incentives to all levels of employees as ALL EMPLOYEES are necessary to running an effective, profitable, sustainable business.
    - Have better 360 programs to give a TRUE holistic view off managements leadership and effectiveness.

    Pros

Great career opportunities. You can work and try out different positions. Management address concerns such as life/work balance.

    Cons

Sometimes there are many bureaucratic roadblocks to getting things done. However if you can navigate the bureaucracy then things move really fast so you have to be able to deliver quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove bureaucratic road blocks to get more accomplished. Become more agile.

I worked at DIRECTV full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay isn't bad for the job qualifications. Not a bad 401K. Good perks that include free DirecTV programming and NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB, NBA, sports packages and all premium channels. Pretty much any channel they offer, you receive for free as an employee. Employees also get expediated installation once they qualify for free programming.

    Cons

Not easy to climb the ladder, most available moves are lateral. Sometimes schedules might be inconvenient and trading shifts can possibly be an issue depending on your manager/team leader.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate the 90 day no miss policy. Make sure management has true leadership skills. Although this is a CSR position, there is a lot of upselling products, channels, packages, ect, commissions would be an added welcome.

I worked at DIRECTV full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Offer good training opportunities. Good place to network and expand different departments. The HQ is nice with gym, restaurants. Events were always pleasant.

    Cons

Last manager I had micromanaged. Very big, structured and corporate. Opposite of a start up culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less micromanaging, need more opportunities for employees to expand and branch out

I have been working at DIRECTV full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Freedom during the work day, nobody breathing down your neck, decent co worker environment overall.

    Cons

In this "small town" setting, no room to advance unless you relocate, stingy site manager who grasps every penny with all of his power resulting in terrible raises and unnecessary pressure. Complete lack of trust on all levels and you get the sense that you are always guilty until proven innocent. Working in all elements is a big downer in this field, as you will work in all settings, hot cold, rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, torrential downpour, dirty environments, clean environments, crawl in attics, crawlspaces, in some cases even been through sewage, and an overall labor intensive job while working in all said scenarios.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on making the pay much higher, eliminate favoritism, push every individual to unlock their potential in hopes to move up, and even encourage and mentor promoting the individuals. This would help attract real talent, and push the motivation of the current talent you wish to keep. As for myself, I'm constantly on the lookout for a new job that will pay enough to keep my family afloat. Its shameful and demoralizing to have this level of expertise and make so little for it. We are the face of DIRECTV, start acting like it. Think about the guys who are in the trenches and think about how they're wondering how to pay bills, put food into their kids mouths, and make all ends meet without just living paycheck to paycheck.
