    Pros

it's and easy job and fun if you like making ice cream and being busy; can move from employee to management quickly if you're a good employee and take initiative. just follow rules and procedures and you'll be good to go. the pay isn't terrible. not great, but not terrible.

    Cons

very boring during the winter time. supervisors who "micro manage" store managers. No room to advance once reaching store manager status.

    Advice to Management

Pay store managers better and the turnover rate might not be so high.

    I worked at Dairy Queen

    Pros

    The people are fairly friendly.
Everybody tries real hard to make the customers happy.
The employees are always working to know their regulars, and memorize their orders.
They went out of their way to deliver an order for a customer under special circumstances.

    Cons

The lack of hours isn't enough to really justify the effort put in.
The only way to get a raise is to threaten to quit.
They hire too many people too often which causes employees that have worked there longer to quit because of cuts in their hours.
You don't actually get a meal break, you have to pretty much woof down food and get back to work as fast as possible.
If you need to call out, it's all on you to find someone to fill in, management doesn't even really try to help, and there's seldom ever anybody that can. They're either too new to fill in, or too many hours already, which is barely ever, but still, mostly it's just that night shift has too many newbies that are teenagers, or don't know enough about what they're doing, to be able to cover someone.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on the hirings. Focus on your tried and true employees that have worked there for an extended amount of time, i.e. 1 year and longer. Appreciate your employees more, they work their behinds off to make people happy and do their jobs right, for crap hours and lousy pay.
