I have been working at Dairy Queen full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Promoted very quick to GM and they aren't too much in your face about what you need to do. As long as you are performing up to par you are good to go.

    Cons

I have been a GM for 9 years and have been promised to be moved up but with a franchise it is very difficult to be promoted. A lot of franchisees do very little to better their stores which give DQ a bad rep.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fun work environment and free food at the store I worked at. Always had a good time. Flexible hours along with good break time. Was able to study for my college courses when the store was slow.

    Cons

Rush hours could be quite busy. Especially when mix machines would stop working. There really isn't any promotion or advancement opportunities. But that makes sense when it's a very small business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be sure to spend more time in the store.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Dairy Queen had very flexible hours which made it possible to have more than one job if wanted. It was in a small community so the coworkers became close friends. Many friendships and relationships was formed with the customers which made it even more exciting to go to work.

    Cons

Health insurance was not available to the employees. The minimum wage made it hard to only have one job so the entire time I had two jobs; Dairy Queen was always part-time.

I have been working at Dairy Queen part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The hours were very flexible and there were very few restrictions on how you could spend your time off. Facial hair was not permitted but piercings and tattoos were allowed.

    Cons

The customers are extremely rude much of the time. A lot of the equipment was broken and the boss refused to replace it, making my job more difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instill better incentives to workers, because currently there is no motivation for employees to do their job well.
