I have been working at Delphi full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good technical work, good opportunities. excellent test/analysis facilities.

    Cons

little experience brought in from outside, lots of graduates make up the work force and technical experience limited to in house training. little in the way of employees benefits, and could do with spending more on social/welfare areas to keep the workforce happy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

splash out a little to keep employees feeling valued.

    Pros

Informal working environment, quite relaxed. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Lack of HR support. Mobility within the group limited (HR managed locally)
Everything feel like the individual employee come second (or third, or even more) in order of priority
Feel like the company is managed week by week, no long term vision/investment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your people, or you are going to loose them...

I worked at Delphi full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great to have paid work for a year.
Ten other students made it easy to organise house sharing.
    I learned to programme.
I learned a lot about general internal combustion engine knowledge from the other employees there.
Good to have industrial experience so early on in my career.

    Cons

Part of my job involved running a test rig which was very boring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A little more variety in the YINI scheme would have been appreciated.

I have been working at Delphi full-time

    Pros

High number of graduates so very good work environment. Lots of opportunity for experience across different engineering functions.

    Cons

    Some old school management style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shakeup the old school management style. Give employees more empowerment and flexibility to their working hours. This can only contribute to increased satisfaction with work.

I worked at Delphi as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

A wide variety of things to do. Excellent CV booster. They realise you're still a student so let you learn while working.

    Cons

Lots of Excel. Sometimes there can be a lot of downtime where you have nothing to do. Not everything you do will be applicable to your degree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow students slightly more responsibility. Get a new ticket system. Disallow attachements over a megabyte onto the worldwide mailing list.

    Pros

Open minded environment, great team spirit all over. Job rotation and international experiences encouraged. Competent people.

    Cons

Salaries could be better. Also recent restructuring initiatives in various parts of the globe inevitably impacted morale - although management is doing a good job to try and preserve motivation for the opportunities ahead, in some places this could be a challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While transitioning to a more competitive footprint and organization, do not forget about talent retention and vision communication.

    Pros

I really liked the engineering that they were doing on Fuel Cells and specifically my work at the site.
    Very helpful team.

    Cons

They didnt seem to put 100% into the work that they did at least 20% of the people seemed to be truely invested in the projects.

I worked at Delphi full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Okay pay, steady work, vacation pay, retirement savings plan

    Cons

No time for life or family. No sick days no breaks. No benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some employees chose to work hard. I think the hard working ones deserve breaks. The ones who are fat and lazy and claim they have worked there for so many years while other people are trying to keep the company in business, get rid of the bums. If Delphi press operators could make and earn rate to take a break , I bet you would get more parts. After so long of busting my chops and seeing who only cares about getting paid and their seniority, I could only take so much. And all the drama that comes with it is not worth the headache. Delphi needs to get rid of the seniority levels and treat everyone equal cause it has gotten to high seniority's fat heads they don't have to work. Employees there get mad if you make more parts than others cause then they have to work. I have dealt with employees being mad at me for blowing them out of the water and supervisors letting it all go. GET RID OF YOUR UNIONS.
