In back office, great team-oriented culture. Great work/life balance and very family friendly.

Assistant Vice President (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than a year

ProsWork/life balance, remuneration, culture, benefits.

ConsIf you deal with front office this can impact on your work life balance and expose you to the cut throat, P&L oriented culture they have.

Dump. Some great people let down by poor top down management. Work elsewhere if you can.

Software Developer (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than a year

ProsSalary is okay, but other banks pay more
Canteen okay
Some great benefits such as share options which are used to lure you in.

ConsHR are a miserable and can be aggressive. I got to see this because I asked for a few improvements which virtually all other banks had (multi-faith rooms etc)
Good staff and line manager can be found but ruined by everything else.
Poor facilities, gym overcrowded (if you can get a place in the first place)

Bureaucratic, endless restructuring within the IT organisation

Assistant Vice President (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThere are some aspiring people on the business side

ConsNo leadership and roadmap on the IT side in the past 5 years, senior managers rather play political games to protect themself than contributing real value to the business.

Promotion does not depend on performance and contribution.
High performer got pissed off every year.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou pay peanuts, you got monkeys

Birmingham, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than a year

Pros(1) External training courses are usually approved
(2) Pension
(3) Maternity pay

Cons(1) Long hours
(2) Very poor management
(3) Low pay in comparison to hours
(4) Staff bullied by London Teams
(5) Excessive off Shoring - to the point where there is hardly any knowledge left and a role is never safe

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on retaining staff.

Working in asset and wealth management

Wealth Manager (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 10 years

ProsAccess to good credit facilities , world class research and good client entertainment eg frieze festival

ConsFar too many non client management making decisions , over burden of compliance , lack of investment in business

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement have been totally weak and not very business like , the executive committee is full of failings and lacks any real direction or understanding to running a wealth business. Might be said that it is too cosy and all the team should be re applying for different roles. Start looking after personnel and empowering them to deliver results rather than the never ending List of projects which hack clients and staff off .....smell the coffee

Welcoming. Not maximising effectiveness.

Business Analyst (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time

ProsWelcoming. Inclusive. Approachable. Reasonable hours.

ConsPolitical. Not streamlined. Project Management. Presentation over content.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecruit senior project managers who drive the project and deliver, while keeping team onside.

Very bright people and feel previliged to have worked here, but too much red-tape and processes

Applications Developer (Former Employee)
London, England

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 3 years

Pros- had a great team to work with, smart, bright, competent people.
- not as stressed as American investment banks
- great employee training resources
- decent non-monetary benefits

Cons- lot of redundant higher managers (looks like it's changed after Jain took over!), hence lack of IT direction
- HR could take a more proactive role in addressing employee concerns

Advice to Senior ManagementDisclaimer: Opinions are solely personal and not neccesarily indicative of how the bank itself was, but the teams worked with.
