Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosgood reputation, well recognised brand so good to have on resume

Consvery bureaucratic
information takes ages to filter to filter down by which time it will be out of date due to constant change

Too political, too regimented

Project Manager (Former Employee)
London, England

I worked at Deutsche Bank as a contractor for more than a year

ProsMany talented individuals, some scope to interact and collaborate.

ConsToo many organisation changes happening too often. This causes major disruptions and prevents continuity.
Too much focus on hierarchy -too many Directors, too many VPs -too many "project managers" not enough real work and delivery.

Advice to Senior ManagementBreak down the silos, reduce duplicated work, remove swathes of ineffective management and focus more on completing the job rather than recreating the organisation every 6 months!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Summer Analyst in Global Markets

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Deutsche Bank

ProsVery high calibre of people within the firm - it has a great reputation and undoubtedly you will learn a lot here. Great global presence too compared to the other traditional BB's.

ConsCulture depends hugely desk by desk. I had a great experience in some rotations where my manager had a very good coaching style, but then had another manager who was pretty unapproachable. Whether you end up with a likeable team is just a lottery basically. Some teams will try to get to know you personally, others will not.

Smart house

Associate (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSmart teams, cutting-edge, profitable with a commitment to latest products and trades. The Bank has a lot of cross-product, cross-selling initiatives, unique vs. the rest of the Street.

ConsHierarchical, political, quite rigid in terms of moving up the ladder (i.e. very strict with minimum number of eyars spent at a certain corporate level before one can be considered for promotion).

Great place to work

Change Manager (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank as a contractor for less than a year

ProsGreat people to work with and very engaging
Stable company with solid ethics and compliance structures
Looks after their employees

Cons-Management sometimes seem to make decisions on a whim and without thinkning about the full implications first
- Over complicates processes unnecessarily

If the salaries were not good nobody would work here

Vice President - Technology (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than a year

ProsGood Base & Benefits
Excellent Pension
Flexible Working

ConsMassively top heavy on (poor quality) management
Protectionist cliques within management
Extremely political / bitchy
No ownership of process or clear management structure
Processes are non-standard or non-existent
Too much outsourcing
Bonus-centric work ethic (rather than quality of work)
People are career jockeys and would probably throw women and children off a life raft

Advice to Senior ManagementStop firing good people because they know more than you
Listen to your staff / do research before making decisions
Stop thinking about the bonus and actually try to do something useful
Take a pay cut you're not worth it

Wannabe yuppee's willing to step on each other's toes to get a 20p/hour pay rise. Salary is not great.

Senior Analyst (Former Employee)
Birmingham, England

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time

ProsEasy to get in and grab some Tier 1 experience for your CV.

ConsIt's a hard graft and too easy to get into politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementMainly headless chickens. The ones who are good normally don't last due to deep politics.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
