There really is magic

IT Analyst (Current Employee)
Hammersmith, England

I have been working at Disney full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGreat company to work for, all the perks of working for an international company, the option to move around internally. There is constant change but they are the best at what they do.

ConsNone really, I suppose it depends on who you work for but generally most people seem to have been in the organisation a few years

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Start as an intern and work the ladder

Creative (Former Employee)
London, England

I worked at Disney full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat ways to move up in the company. All you need to do is find new ways of showing you add value to the company in creative ways.

ConsOthers also wants to move up, and might create a bit of tensions between two competitors that are aiming for the same position.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it fun and people will work hard. I found it a great place to work because it was light and fun, as long as everyone was working hard. If someone was lagging behind it was dealt with on the side in a pleasant way.

the Disney store - Office - Ok place to work

Allocator (Former Employee)
London, England

I worked at Disney

Prosnice product
friendly staff - did not experience much office politics
looks great on CV and has the wow factor
Pay is average in comparision to Merchandising/Buying Market

Conscan be very slow at at times except for christmas when sales shoot through the roof
IT systems are basic
for Merchandising/Buying the experience is not as strong as Fashion companies
Stock Range is only bought 5 times a year instead of Weekly
Poor communication from management

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove communication. Jobs need to have larger specs because many employees would be finished by 1pm and just looking at the Internet due to lack of work.

Fortune 500 brand, great stepping stone, might be very exciting

Engineer (Current Employee)
Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

ProsAs engineer, the pay is not great compares to the banking industry, but is definitely good compares to the local company. Great brand to work with, many exposures, good work/life balance

ConsFlat hierarchy , not a whole lot of opportunity

Great environment, great people

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Disney full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood work life balance, great people, great working environment

ConsFinding and securing employment opportunities in different departments. They tend to promote from within, which is great if you happen to be in that department, but not so great if you're trying to gain entry.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe mindful of the contributions of the "little people"....they count just as much as those with a title.

Great company! Have to be comfortable with ambiguity and change.

Director (Current Employee)
Glendale, CA (US)

I have been working at Disney full-time for more than 5 years

ProsWork with Great People!
The real products are the Media properties and nobody has more or more relevant properties than Disney.
Great perks and benefits!!!
Management takes risks, which can lead to significant growth.

ConsFrequent change in corporate direction, leading to frequent organizational restructuring. Many layoffs over the last 5 years.
Little focus on end consumer and most time spent on internal communication. We are the opposite of the "No Spin Zone"

Advice to Senior ManagementPut in place Scorecards that will force honesty on P&L holders. You need to know what is real versus hype.
