Pros- Relaxed work environment
- Good work life balance
- No hectic schedules

Cons- No new products

- Least recognition for good work done
- Benefits are ok
- Green Card processing is very slow and bad (nothing more can be expected since the company is in cost cutting mode)

ProsGood place for a young person starting out in the securities industry to get licensed and learn a few things. They pay for your licensing. You don't really have to take your work home with you.

ConsLow pay. It's a call center. Low employee morale. Every second of your day is micromanaged. Rude customers. Promotions are actually just lateral moves to other departments doing the same thing. Company touts promoting from within but sought after positions are filled outside.

Advice to Senior ManagementDe-emphasize the "CE" requirement. Many excellent reps do not receive the recognition they should because they choose to not abuse the referral system like other reps. Being able to "put on over" on management with inflated referral leads shouldn't be rewarded. Top referral performers are the least likely to allow others to observe their habits for a reason.

ProsMakes it easy to get acclimated with the market and a range of investments. Benefits are great. Good place to get a series 7 as they have a good training program but most moves within the company after that are lateral.

ConsVery micro managed. Because of this, it is difficult to create relationships within the workplace. Most employees show up and leave with very little interaction. It is luck of the draw to get off work and most people end up taking PTO days in the middle of the week because Mondays and Fridays are the busiest days. New hires typically are stuck on an off hour shift that may include nights and weekends.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep a CEO longer than 6 months that can implement a strategy to be more successful.

ProsFine place to spend 3-4 years but not a place for a long-term career. Good experience in corporate services to take to another company. Great experience in equity compensation but usually you must move away from Atlanta to find another job in the equity comp field.

ConsManagement won't developing employees, management always hires from the outside, raises are not regular but come every 3-4 years. Client services is overworked, client management is underworked and overpaid, and product management is underappreciated which results in incredibly high turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop the regular cycle of building up and pulling back.

Current Employee – been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time for more than a year

ProsThey hand out titles like lollipops and E*TRADE looks good on a resume.

ConsThey hook you in the position with a higher than normal salary and promises of bonsuses, raises and promotions. Opinion throughout the company is that these are never delivered on. Good jobs go to outside hires. Very poorly managed from senior managers on up. Extreme micro management. Policies within the company don't communicate to each other.

Advice to Senior ManagementBack off. Let your employees do what they were hired for without constant check ins.

Former Employee – worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood staff and middle managers. Salary and benefits could be better, but not bad overall. Interesting industry. Good place to start a career.

ConsWay too much micro-managing. Very secretive and very political atmosphere. Morale rather low. Senior management has an every person for themselves attitude. Very difficult to move around to other areas of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more opportunities to move to other areas of the company.

ProsGood life work balance; sane work hours and the company management does a nice job of providing team-building events and fosters an overall sense of good spirit.

ConsWorking with other teams can be difficult; not the most challenging job I've had in my career.

Advice to Senior ManagementBreak through some of the silos and get teams to communicate and work together more cooperatively. Challenge the status quo and don't just settle for "business as usual."
