I have been working at E*TRADE Financial as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The creative team is always on the know about current technology. The company has an awesome branding and style-guide to work with.

    Cons

I could see somedays getting put-off by slow approval of proposed creative ideas.

    Time to move on

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time

    Pros

Pay scale is decent and the company provides good health benefits.

    Cons

Hard work and consistency have no value over at ETRADE. It is impossible to get promoted unless you are best friends with Managers and Directors. Even exploring options within ETRADE is perceived as betrayal by certain Directors. Bonus structure is also very subjective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your non managerial employees.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent, reasonably professional work environment. OK place to start out and get licensed. The UT office is located in a nice area.

    Cons

Low operational standards frequently result in customer dissatisfaction, and force representatives to be in a near constant state of apology and appeasement. I would never recommend this employer to a friend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the love of all that's holy, invest in some technology. It is not OK for you to still be stuck in the 90's.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great time off policy. Good location in Arlington, VA very close to the metro and lots of lunch options around.

    Cons

Most of the cubicles have little to no natural light. Very few events that bring the entire company together in order to foster a positive culture. Managers are not interested in transparency or in the opinions of their employees. Very little opportunity to impact the business because the upper management is extremely insular. Even though the pay is decent it is not worth it at all.

    I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and some perks with E*TRADE products

    Cons

    1. From the moment you start, you get a sense of how petulant and self-involved Sr Management is. Their leadership for the past several years has been a revolving door.
    2. If you expect to be properly trained, told what you responsibilities are, given a bigger picture or purpose for projects, or are looking for your manager to be interested in your growth and development, this is the wrong place for you.
    3. Your ideas/input don't matter, your manager is going to do whatever he/she thinks is best to please his/her superiors
    3. Above all, this is a fear culture. There were plenty of nice people, but they were stressed out all of the time because of their managers' demands and aggressive management style
    4. Work life balance is abysmal. In some groups you are expected to stay outside of normal working hours every day, regardless if you've finished all your work for the day simply for "appearances".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start creating a different culture from the top down. Employees are not engaged, are not treated well, and need to see a change in the attitude of their leaders.

    Pros

They have clients for you to develop your skills with.

    Cons

To simplistic of a business model. It is E-Trade. Recall the phrase, "You get what you pay for."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging your employees, and treat them as adults.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and training opportunities abound along with internal promotional opportunities. Decent salary also.

    Cons

Sometimes sales quotas are difficult to meet for certain positions. This is expected and meeting those quotas can lead to significant bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee morale is important within any company.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time

    Pros

High energy leadership team that isn't afraid to change things that need changing makes for great opportunities to make a real difference and advance in one's career. Mid-level leadership show true caring for their people.

    Cons

The largest challenge is keeping up with the pace of work. With so much change for the better happening, the pace can be exhilarating or overwhelming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a solid plan for success in place. Do not be deterred by short-term challenges that might derail the company's transformation. Keep the faith and E*TRADE will be great again.

I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There are no Pros in E*trade

    Cons

Managers suck, they think they are Gods, most employees at E*TRADE are unhappy. Directors are rude and barely open their mouths to respond to a simple hello. you need to be part of the Click to get anywhere... if you are not a brown nose it's best for you to get the experience and leave ASAP

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are not GODS... it's too obvious that if employees don't suck up to you, they will get no where.. you have tendency of treating E*TRADE like a cotton field so please change people are employees, not slaves
