    Pros

Friendly and helpful colleagues and pleasant, well-equipped office. Good salary and conditions. Training program well established, and excellent sponsorship opportunities for employees. The core business of EDFT is very interesting.

    Cons

Buck-passing culture, Inability to manage progress against strategic company goals. Senior management are not respected within the company. Interminable meetings! High staff turnover, low morale.

    Advice to Management

Stop searching for magic solutions that will solve all your problems at once. Need to start promoting effective teams and teamwork. You must see that there is a reason nothing progresses, despite a strong desire for change. You should be looking for incremental change, a culture of delivery from unified teams, and a resulting boost in company morale.

    Pros

Enjoyable work environment, relaxed day to day culture
Structured intern program but also allow you to explore other groups
    Reasonable hours
    Competitive pay for an internship

    Cons

Tasks between different interns vary from interesting to mind-numbing. Very dependent on your manager
    Some employees are decidedly unqualified

    Advice to Management

Many employees spend their time working on meaningless or wasteful tasks.
Enforce better record keeping for essential tasks. With employees often moving or leaving entirely, regular tasks fall apart because the person who originally designed them left.

    Pros

Good compensation and opportunities for career advancement. Hard work is generally recognized. A lot of very intelligent people to work with.

    Cons

Location is less than desirable. Upper management is chosen for market expertise and is entirely unrelated to their leadership. Not a good place for employees without substantial experience. Surprisingly corporate.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the people who work for you. A lot of people get stuck in a routine and could be accomplishing a lot more.

  9. Great work atmosphere, limited upward mobility

    Pros

People are great, the business is very interesting and it was generally a pleasant experience there.

    Cons

Upward mobility is tough, I came with a strong academic background and lots of ambition but never saw a clear path to the type of position I wanted to work towards.

    Advice to Management

    Get an analyst program.

    Pros

A great place to start and grow. Good starting salaries and performance based bonuses. Many young professionals keep it competitive; many whom are hungry to move up. Good training programs and opportunities to jump to other areas if you can show initiative. Very flexible in terms of family/work life. If the company is successful, everyone enjoys the spoils.

    Cons

UK/NA/Paris office differ in culture and direction. Sometimes it seems as though the EDF machine stalls with lack of clear objectives. There are some that have been there since the Lehman era that have hit a wall and really don't bring anything new to the company. Retention for top talent is not great. Bonuses for trading isn't just performance or book based but how the company does overall. Some good performing traders get shafted while others who get by reap in the benefits.

    Advice to Management

It's hard to steer the North American ship with UK and Paris at the helm but try to become more independent. Great business model.
