Pros

Decent benefits
Focus on plugging into API's, open source technology and development community
Interest in competing globally
It's a utility...there's aways a need for the service
Bonus is nice, but could be better
Different businesses give you opportunity to move around within the company

Cons

- 1/2 to 1 percent yearly raises are insulting
- grades performance and merit on a bell curve...ridiculous! I'm not in High School
- Advancement almost non-existent unless you're plugged in. You literally have to jump ship to get promoted to the next level, otherwise you're in for the long-haul at the same position.
- Middle management bloat
- Stick your neck out for no one mentality and don't rock the boat
- Very process driven attitude
- Slow to change, but getting there
- Silos galore

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the 1950's process way of thinking
Improve how you evaluate individual performance
Give people the opportunity to advance professionally. I see people in the same position for 10 years
Compensate those who work hard
Get rid of the silos! Grouping Engineers, Marketing people and so forth in their respective disciplines is what stifles creativity and technology

    I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Great pay. Discounted service. Clean work environment. Plenty of customer traffic.

    Cons

    Long hours. Aggressive goals. Understaffed. Company stores get bad business overflow from agents and resellers because they don't offer same services. Company owned stores get billing issues, payments, complaints. Tough to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Commission goals are not inline with company goals. Place incentives where the needs of the business are.
