Pros

A constant churn at the SC / Manager level means opportunities for ambitious people, especially those with previous industry experience.

Cons

The pressure on new managers to deliver results in the first year is intense. Expect an up-or-out escalator in MC / Advisory.

Advice to Management

Manage your churn better. Stop offering VR's to the bozos and share more of the upside with the M's.

    Pros

Accenture is a fabulous company with immense diversity in intellectual capital and people. It remunerates competitively and exposes you to many opportunities for professional development.

    Cons

I can't think of many. It is a large organisation but does not suffer from any sense of complacency or inertia. I would say for the very ambitious who want to run and manage operations, there is limited opportunity compared with working in a smaller organisation.

    Advice to Management

Capture the spirit of Bill Green and infuse it in the company's management DNA going forward.

  2. Work harder, play hard

    Pros

    - Good compensation
    - Some genuinely great people to work with
    - Can make quick progression if your're good and know how to play the game
    - Opportunity to get involved in pretty much any kind of work (see caveat in 'Cons')

    Cons

    - Long hours
    - Isn't as meritocratic as some might have you believe
    - Constant pressure to move to next level (applies to Consulting only)
    - While there is opportunity to work in all sorts of areas, it can be very difficult to get a role in what you actually want to do

    Advice to Management

The decisions you make can have a profound effect on the work/life balance of your team
