Pros

Good Projects
For the most part good people to work with
Good social support network
Work with a lot of big name brands

Cons

Poor remuneration / compensation package
Long working hours
US overrides UK far too strongly - hands are tied for pretty much everything.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the UK/Europe do its own thing, it will deliver much better results for the corporation as a whole
Improve compensation packages

    Pros

Good talented people to work with. Varying and exciting environment.

    Cons

Lack of direction, you're left to work it out for yourself. Hidden reporting lines means you don't know whos toes you're going to stand on next. Blame culture. Often inflexible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Weed out managers that don't view staff as assets.
    Encourage creative thinking.
    Focus more on:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
    Working software over comprehensive documentation
    Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan
That is, while there is value in the items on the right (above), you should value the items on the left more.

    Pros

There is never a problem taking time off. Very flexible start/finish times.

    Cons

Far too bureaucratic. To get anything done requires so many people and very often simple decisions take months. The most recent example was ordering a PC. It took 5 months to go through purchasing with numerous meetings debating spec then eventually ordering an off the shelf Dell taking 2 days to deliver. The cost of the PC (£900) was dwarfed by the cost of the meetings. The corporate culture fosters a lack of accountability, it is easy to pick up bad habits. Acxiom's IT emphasizes this as they look at quick fixes rather than root causes and preventative measures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on accountability and cut out unnecessary bureaucracy. Stop and thinking about why something cant be done and start thinking about how it can be done.
