Identify where revenue is actually coming from and reward those team members, not the "managers" that manage up.

I worked at Adknowledge full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great, smart, hard-working co-workers.
    Free pop and bi-weekly lunches.
Has some fun after hours events and team building.
    Progressive, forward thinking technology company.
Great opportunity to learn a lot about the online marketing industry and technology.

    Cons

    *Must "Clock-In" via IRC.
*Company hires management from other companies instead of promoting talented people within.
    * Some unethical/"spammy" mailing practices. Not always in best interest of advertiser.
    * Not a good work/life balance.
    * Managers do nothing about chronic bad employees, in fact, they recently rehired one of their worst sales people with one of the worst attitudes and chronic bad attendance who created drama and untruths in the workplace.
    * Females beware... I've been privy to many sexist convos. Unless you are a young somewhat pretty girl who flirts with upper management, Adknowledge is not female friendly to get promoted to management level or higher. Smart, assertive, vocal women are seen as challenging, and smart, assertive, vocal men are seen as go-getters on a management track.
*Very political... if you aren't one of the "cool kids"/frat boys who parties with the upper management team (or who the upper management team want to sleep with or be see with) you will consistently be overlooked for promotions no matter how good you are at your job and no matter how smart you are and how much you contribute to the bottom line. We've see slackers who contribute nothing but stroking their manager's ego get promoted over and over again to their level of incompetency, and the best and brightest "let go" for fabricated reasons or hearsay from dog-eat-dog corporate politics. Watch your back!
*Company used the down economy as an excuse to get rid of some of their highest earners and best contributors to growth of company in favor of hiring young inexperienced workers and paying them less (in spite of record growth and tremendous profits.)
    * Company has no employee loyalty.
    * Constantly changing commission plans for Sales Reps and Account Managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Take advise of employees in the trenches rather than hiring outside managers. THEY know your business best.
    * Stop hiring based on looks and brand names, instead hire and promote based on skills, attitude and work ethics.
    * Treat your employees well and they will work hard for you.
    * Get rid of some of the dinosaurs that play politics and stir the pot and focus on hard workers with great, innovative business ideas instead.
