Pros

amazon is a growing company with many interesting problems. the complexity and scaling of the business bring a lot of challenges.

Cons

pay-wise is ok but not great. one leadership principle of the company is frugal, so do not expect great packages and benefits

I have been working at Amazon.com as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Working at Amazon was a treat - every day was an adventure. I felt like being back in high-school... You share the office with smart and funny people who take their work very seriously but have absolutely no problem goofing about. Love the fact that people can bring dogs to work.

    Cons

Hard to get your foot in the door...

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Smart peers,
    Good pay,
    Freedom and ownership.
Amazon had successfully found a formula to satisfy technical talents by including them as part of the business decision making process even though business and customers being the priority one.

    Cons

    Work-life balance
No great opportunity to learn technical skills / learn new stuff ( apart from the project work )

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think more about contributing and innovating on technical talent and resources ( like open source ) through which the company had gained immensely ( like Android and other Open software )
