I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for less than a year

Pros

Great training, latest equipment, good start out pay, great people to work with

Cons

Family referrals for employment( husband manager, wife in a different management position as well). Managers and.leads are not coordinated, no chance of advancement Empty promises, customer obsession should be declared as psychological analysis of frustrated individuals. Metric system is totally inaccurate . Long working hours, enforced shift bids, hardly any vacation time can be taken....

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on outsourcing and see the results in a few years.Cant have people in India, South Africa and the Philippines taking care of re occurring problems just because you want to go cheap

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very smart development staff implementing academic computer science solutions to meet incredibly large scale of data and transactions.

    Cons

Very intense environment requiring huge commitment without any room for work/life balance. Say goodbye to your family and any hobbies during your tenure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stack ranking places peers in direct competition, limiting collaboration among individuals as well as teams. Managers hold absolute sway over their reports. Abandon stack ranking.
