I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than an year)

Pros

commision is good if you are goal oriented and a big time competitor. you can make very good money with no experience

Cons

policies change too much. once you have your commision structure down pack they change it so you have to learn a new system and when you almost learn the new system they will add a new one.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

just use one system and stick to it stop making it difficult. its a great place to work other than that.

    I have been working at Cablevision Systems as a contractor

    Pros

    location and flexibility of working hours, work life balance for the times in life when our priorities and focus shifts to family and spending more time at home

    Cons

    Company lacks good leadership and long term vision. Projects, initiatives and budget are managed as fire drills. every week consists of the emergency dejour. Organizational silos and self interest drives decisions. Poor employee performance and little innovation. Cablevision is 10 year late coming to the party they need to wake up and move fast if they want to stay around longer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on innovation, reward business like thinking. Reevaluate all consulting vendors, bring in new vendor that are eager to accommodate lower rates. Performance manage employees and move them out of the comfort jobs. Need to shake out the company and bring in new spirit and drive. Create incentives and goals for cross company performance. Good luck.

    Rain, heat, snow, sleet.... Knocking on people's doors....no fun at all.

    Pros

    Excellent training and sales support

    Cons

    A lot of people have a big problem with the public image of the owners of the company. You have to go into unsavory neighborhoods and knock doors until 9PM, all year long.
    You get paid on installs the following month. Poor service at installation cost me a bunch of sales due to customer cancellation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't use subcontractors for win back installs.
