Pros

Entrix is a first rate environmental services firm. Professionals are treated like professionals. Very little micro management and the access to junior staff is excellent.

Cons

The company is going through a growth stage via the acquistion process. This could lead to internal competition amongst the sister companies.

    Pros

    Really fun work and lots of opportunities to gain valuable experience for recent grads.Lots of things are changing with the recent merger with Cardno. Some of the bad apples have been asked to leave or have left on their own. Steps are being taken to train middle managers to promote organic growth.

    Cons

    Promotion is completely arbitrary within the company and largely depends on the office you work out off, the working group you are in and especially the manager you have. Opportunities to work toward promotion can be difficult to come by; as employees become proficient at or exceed the expectations of their level they can be held there in the effort to keep project bids competitive with other less expensive consultants.

    Advice to Management

    Provide lower level employees more professional training. Prompt middle managers to give constructive criticism. Guard against blacklisting employees without feedback. Standardize promotion standards between offices and working groups.

    Pros

    Intelligent staff, honest consulting, science, not business driven focus. Technical skills are required and can be learned from the senior staff.

    Cons

    No transparency from Senior Management in business decisions, no room for training or advancement for those without their PhD. Top heavy with PhD staff and too little focus on supporting staff that produce the work.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your employees in the loop and provide more structured training opportunities and career path options. Know you have talented staff and reward them as such in their career objectives.
