If innovation is what you crave, stay away from EA

Senior Game Designer (Former Employee)
Orlando, FL (US)

I worked at Electronic Arts full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat perks around campuses
Loads of talented people
Great discounts
Decent compensation
You can seemingly skate by and be lazy for years if you're into that sort of thing

ConsBloated management structures
Lack of drive towards innovation or new IP
Absolutely not a meritocracy
Senior staff seems to still be in place (and getting promoted) after doing nothing but drive the stock price into the dirt

Advice to Senior ManagementHow is JR still the CEO?!? And Peter Moore COO?! Since those two joined EA the stock has been in a nose dive. Obviously not everything is their fault, but this company needs new blood and fresh ideas.

Lots of work, but lots of play too

QA Tester (Former Employee)
Emeryville, CA (US)

I worked at Electronic Arts as a contractor for more than a year

Pros: EA is a leader in the gaming industry, with opportunities to be exposed to many different aspects such as QA, development, project management, marketing, etc.… Cons: It can be difficult to move from contract to full-time. One issue with the industry in general is that you can certainly expect some… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More

Monolithic and slow moving company but one with a lot of resources

Lead Engineer (Current Employee)
Austin, TX (US)

I have been working at Electronic Arts for more than 5 years

Pros: Ability to get the right resources for your project is there if you are a favored project. You don't have "startup" issues like "will… Cons: You aren't a startup, everything moves at a glacial pace. Getting things done takes 10 meetings with 20… Advice to Senior Management: Get the bureaucracy and redtape out of the way of employees. Get rid of the current upper management. They really are clueless.… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
