    I worked at General Motors as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    I had my summer internship here. GM is great place to work: great benefits, good working environment.
    learn a lot form the summer internship;

    Cons

    You have to be self-motivated in such a big company
    The room to promote is limited
    Detroit is not the place I'd like living in

    I have been working at General Motors full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    A lot of great people there as well as great resources. Once you learn how to network within the company there are many experts there that are more than willing to help. Also if you're willing to live in Michigan or move, there are lot's of options to move around to new/different jobs.

    Cons

    Its a very big company and still learning how to become leaner and faster. They try to be more efficient but having "standardized global processes" ... but this can also make things slower and/or stiffle creativity and resourcefulness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to unleash your strong performers more ... process focus is great but you also need to let your experts do things their way a bit more.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
