    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Iconic tech company with dedicated people and solid engineering. If you have a good manager and a good team, you can to a degree ignore the chaos, but this is not a good place to work.

    Cons

Tough environment with little to no room for advancement and layoffs constantly looking. Pay raises, bonuses, stock options are very limited. Leadership is focused on being a hardware company when the industry is consolidating and cloud is the future. Attempts to be strategic - buying software companies, getting into services, building out cloud - have all been a big fizzle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to save money by driving out experienced workers, focus on and really invest in big data/cloud/mobile and stay committed. Get back to HP Invent. Stop buying & then destroying companies and get to the roots of HP: intellectual property.
