I worked at IBM full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great place to meet people that can teach you a wide range of subjects.
Experience a highly process oriented work environment.
Oportunity to work with high end softwares and systems.
Oportunity to develop projects on your own, and develop them to help the company.
To see your efforts rewarded to you in a very professional manner, and exciting manner.

Cons

Burocracy sometimes is an issue.
High rotation inside the company.
Sometimes work/life balance can be an issue, but its rare.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think IBM is an extremely mature company that is very process oriented, but sometimes following some guidelines provided by the company, can limit the potential for more creative solutions.

Former Employee - Process Architect in Austin, TX (US)

I worked at IBM as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

IBM offers a lot of freedom. After about 6 months in an office, I spent the rest of my time working form home with flexible hours.

    Cons

Once you are hired as a contractor at IBM, you will always be a contractor. In 5 years I was never offered any chance to apply for an actual position, nor were pay raises given.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The department I was in, Global Processing, shifted continuously and I had four overall managers and five team lead managers in the five years I was there. It would have been nice to have more stability in the department.

    Pros

Name of the corporation. Otherwise I would not advice the company

    Cons

You have to struggle to get carrier chances, make some bureaucratic staff just to climb up!
