    Pros

Training and career opportunities are endless

    Cons

Too many cross impact initiatives started at the same time that it is always fire fighting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do one thing 100% properly with clear strategic direction in mind rather than 100 different initiatives going in random directions

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Great compensation and benefits package (higher/better than industry average)
    - Great, very intelligent and highly educated and motivated people who are also friendly and helpful (speaking in general terms - there are always exclusions to any rule)
    - Fantastic philanthropic initiatives (many opportunities for volunteering and charity work as well as matched payroll giving)
    - Many opportunities for growth and development; has internal international mobility program
    - Many opportunities for flexible work arrangements

    Cons

    - Very selective of new applicants not entering through graduate programs (i.e. hard to get a job)
    - The working hours can be demanding depending on the business, work team, etc.
    - Promotion criteria is not fully transparent
    - Training can be hit or miss

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More transparent performance evaluation process would be great. I know that the firm is currently trying to move away from the forced ranking system and I think this is definitely a step in the right direction. More promotion opportunities for junior staff who do excellent job would definitely improve the overall culture. It always seems like the number of 'promotion' spots for juniors are limited compared with the overall population on a percentage basis. Recognize talent outside of 'money making' businesses of the Investment Bank and Asset Management. Bankers and traders are not the only 'bright' people - the bank is full of qualified and intelligent people in all areas from HR to Legal to Technology.
