I worked at Jones Lang LaSalle full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

-Great work environment in which a strong work ethic was highly valued
-Co-workers were knowledgeable, fun and supportive
-Excellent benefits and good pay

Cons

-Competition within JLL was sharp and although work/life balance was preached, it seemed unlikely that anyone would advance significantly without sacrificing their work/life balance.
-The company culture was too heavily slanted toward a "see and be seen" lifestyle for my taste. Advancement was not only a matter of work performance, it was also a matter of whether or not you attended all the company parties, attended the right happy hours, joined the right clubs, participated in all the charity events, etc. Simply put, extroverts will thrive at JLL, but introverts may become dissatisfied.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Our department was profitable and managed effectively. I had no complaints regarding upper management.

    Pros

Collaborative environment with great people at all levels. Willingness to share ideas and best practices to help peers. Ethical, client centric culture.

    Cons

In every company there are some inefficient processes, bad managers, imperfect tools, and JLL is no exception. Employees have the opportunity to be part of the solution, but sometimes it's a very long evolution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for more focus, instead of so heavily leveraging employees to do multiple roles. Especially at senior levels where speed of decisions can be so critical.

Great opportunities if you have a good manager

I worked at Jones Lang LaSalle full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There were a lot of opportunities to move within the Marketing, Communications and Research function if you're identified as a top performer and you sit in Corporate. Senior leaders were easy to access and career development/performance management was a priority. The environment is highly competitive, which works well for some and is very difficult for others.

    Cons

Without a strong manager advocating on your behalf, opportunities to advance would be minimal. Face time still matters, especially when it comes to stretch assignments or being identified as a top performer. The company is constantly adjusting/overhauling organizational and leadership structures which requires employees to be in a constant state of change. This is especially difficult for employees who need consistency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pour more time and effort into building personal relationships with team members. You'll get more engaged and committed employees who will be willing to give discretionary efforts on your behalf.
