“Great Life Balance but...”
I worked at Kaiser Permanente full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Great work life balance
Excellent benefits and generally great people
Employee pride in working for a high quality healthcare company
Cons – Generally there is not much opportunity for career progression and growth. Professional development resources are not made available to all employee levels and only some are invited to participate in career development opportunities. Management is not always interested in your career path or progress. Such a large company that change is glacial at best.
Advice to Senior Management – Honestly and earnestly support your employees. Do not become complacent because you don't want to rock the boat. Learn to support risk and innovation. Gain trust in each other and with your direct reports. Ditch the Kaiser Nod.
