Pros

Customers were fun to interact with, Flexible hours, easy work.

Cons

Retail pay ~ 9.45 in WA

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall a decent experience but not a great one, there was fairly quick turnover with some of the employees, and new management had to get rid of some of the older (not so great) employees. Some coworkers were horrible interacting with customers, but that is most likely a result of the retail environment.

    Pros

    Great people, good work environment

    Cons

    Training as-you-go, short breaks, no regular schedule for seasonal associates (i.e. morning shift one day, closing shift the next), no shelf or merchandise dusting leads to allergic reactions in both employees and customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more sales associates on the floor to keep merchandise dusted and clean, clean the air filters more often

    I worked at Michaels Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    I wasn't micromanaged and I loved my coworkers. My manager gave me extra hours when she realized that I was such a good employee, and it is nice to be appreciated.

    Cons

    Never got my discount card, not much communication between management and part time cashiers like me, and I had no responsibility to make my own judgments. Got thrown under the bus for a situation that occurred during a closing shift with a new manager and first time closing lead. Too much emphasis on getting email addresses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't just fire someone for the sake of firing them because something bad happened.
